What's your favorite sealant?

I've always been skeptical of sealing but after reading that so many of you swear it helps with frizz in high dews, I decided I should try it. I'm just not sure what to use so...

What do you like to seal your hair with and why?

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
Light oils are good for this! I'm partial to argan oil I've also heard good things about sweet almond oil. Also, if your hair likes butters, shea butter is a popular choice.

thick; medium/coarse; low porosity.
hair that is drier than the sahara desert.

RO: Renpure Keratin Conditioner. New HG!
LI: L'Oreal EverSleek Humidity-Defying LI Creme
Styling: SM Curl Milk, Argan Oil for sealing, sometimes GFPC Gel, some honey for hold, TIGI Control Freak Serum!!
I never believed it, either, but it really has seemed to help!

I use jojoba or SM elixir for sealing. Sometimes I use a little coconut oil under it, too. (I mix a little EVCO with my LI, then seal with one of the other oils.)

I'm also reading really good things about mineral oil, and am considering trying it!

I've never tried castor oil... Hmm...

Burt's Bees baby oil has a lot of good oils in it (no mineral oil), and I'm wanting to give it a shot!

How exactly do you go about sealing your hair? I still can't quite figure this out. I have grapeseed and jojoba oil on hand. And some Curls elixir stuff. Oh and coconut oil.

combination hair.
2c on top - low elasticity
3a&b scattered underneath - normal elasticity.
fine texture. thin density. A lot of it.
porosity: normal to high.
loves protein and moisture.
BSACV as needed.

products may vary. i'm a PJ.
loving Curl Junkie, Curly Kinks, and AS I Am.
My favorite sealer's I recently figured are Pure cocnut oil, raw shea butter, jojoba oil, and a mix of oils like Wonder Six. I love Carol's Daughter Hair Balm as a sealer also.

I do not if it fights my hair from being frizzy, as I do not have an issue with having frizz and being in a state of natural.
I do know it works for me to keep it moisturized, soft, and shiny.

I condition (either deep/rinse out), rinse in cool water, add Leave In comb through Leave In, add sealer(stated above), and comb through (sometimes I add Hair butter too QP Elasta mango butter and olive oil)...Out the door.
Hair type:
4A/4B(coarse, very thick, dry, and curly)
Big chop 3/27/12
Hair styling products: Shea Moisture(yellow line shampoo n restorative conditioner)

My hair loves coconut oil, EVOO, EO's serum and camellia oil. It definitely makes a difference in my routine. I use either one of them after my leave in to seal in moisture.

Castor mix with a little grapeseed.
I sometimes just seal with my FSG which has jojoba in it. I scrunch FSG in after LI.

If I'm sealing the "regular way", I scrunch in LI, then smooth oil down sections and re-scrunch. Then I'll add gel over that.

Sometimes I add EVCO to my LI, and sometimes will still seal over that. I find EVCO doesn't do much to seal because it absorbs, but it will help with moisture.

I'll also SOTC with some oil, too.

i seal after everytime my hair is wet. it seems to help with fizz and that stuff. i use mac nut oil, or apricot oil or if my hair is rather dry ill use half argan oil and half evening primrose oil.

my hair: 3c, high porosity, high density and coarse hair (i think i finally figured that all out)
my hair loves conditioner only styling!
my hair goal length is bra strap length when curly.

Thanks for your replies. I was looking at products from the more "natural lines" (Marie Dean, Donna Marie, Oyin..) but I guess straight oil works just as well. That seems to be what most of you use. I'm just afraid straight oil will look greasy since my hair is low porosity. Will the oil just sit there? I guess that's ok as long as its acts like a barrier against humidity.

If you're afraid of the greasy look you could use some lighter oils like jojoba, grapeseed and sweet almond for sealing.

Personally, I use a whipped Shea butter mix on wash days and alternate between that and castor oil during the week.
High porosity. 3C.
Poos: NG Hemp Shampoo.
Condish: Alba Botanica Gardenia Hydrating Condish. Mill Creek Keratin. Aussie Moist.

i only use a sealant in very low dews. my hair does not do well with straight oils, so i use jane carter's nourish & shine, john masters organic pomade, spiral solutions emolience butter.

I seal year round. It keeps the moisture out in high dews, and the moisture in during low dews. I use sweet almond oil or jojoba oil. I'm lazy...I emulsify it with LI in the palms of my hands and scrunch away! I am also low porosity, so I add a bit of mousse after the oil/LI, and I let it soak in for about 20 minutes, then add gel (which I emulsify with a bit of curl cream) and diffuse a couple of minutes. Being lazy finally pays off!
2c/3a, fine, low-med porosity, below BSL, mod CG since 9/09

I'm fairly certain that given a cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world." - Leigh Standley
I usually seal with alamond oil and sometimes I mix it with castor oil .
i never tried mixing a sealant with a leave in in my hands. i may try that tomorrow.

+1 on pure argan oil. I mix 1-2 drop with a little leave-in (pea size) for each side of my head. More and it looks like I didn't wash my hair
