Let's talk about styles (and I dont mean products)
Being a thick curly I find it hard to wear my hair any way but just all down. Sometimes I get bored with my hair and want to do cute things with it but its really hard sometimes with curly hair. I try to pull back the sides but it will add a big poof. The only thing I really get away with is using

and pulling up the front sides into the top of my head. (I guess a semi half pony tail)
Please feel free to post pictures of styles or descriptions. Im sure a lot of us can use suggestions!

I normally stick to boring- either it's down or it's in a ponytail. I recently started playing with pulling one side back with a clip (usually with a flower attached). The flower takes attention away from any extra poof.

WOW. Looks awesome! I HATE wearing my hair up though. Anyone have down styles?

Libra_Moon Wonderful updos
I usually like to try some half up and half down, that takes some pieces falling on my face. also I like to play around with the parting when hair is wet. I mostly use those jaw clips small ones
waterlilly716 has some youtube videos on that. You can check them out

Thanks! Yeah it took years to grow out - it really wasn't until I started getting DevaCuts that I could grow it out at all. All the other stylists cut my hair too short for the layers.
Most of those pics are from my best friends wedding. It was actually really funny. The hair stylist did the bride and other bridesmaids hair but I made it clear no one was touching mine. When she was about done with theirs I pulled out my clips and pulled it back into three sections and added the flowers. 10 min later the hair stylist looks at me and goes "that isn't fair! It looks like that took 2 hours and $200" <3 curly hair!

Libra_Moon, gotta say, your ponytails certainly aren't boring. Great set of styles.

I love the twisty bun. Must try that with my hair soon!
Other than that, well, I usually keep my hair down (I love the curls), but now that it's longer I'm going to start putting it up so it stops snagging on the awful chairs at my school (happens. every. single. day.) I like braids. I have a favorite, a dutch braid that starts over one ear and is braided along the nape of the neck so it ends up falling over the opposite shoulder. Or the same kind, a diagonal dutch braid, but I don't braid it all the way down and instead stop when all the hair has been gathered into a braid and ball the rest up into a little side bun.
If I'm short on time I use a "Magic comb" or "double comb" or whatever:
I use it to bun, ponytail, or just get my hair out of my face on second/third-day hair:
Right now I'm sporting a half-up/half-down lace crown braid which is the reason I'm not posting more pics -- it's the first time I actually manage to do it (it's not perfect but I love it) and I don't want to pull it apart and have to start all over again. It took a lot less time than I expected it to -- ten, fifteen minutes tops -- and I think I'll be wearing it way more often (next attempt: a full crown braid). Tip: style when damp. It makes everything so much easier. Also, detangle well. It wrecks the curls but at least I can actually do something with it).
EDIT: LibraMoon, is that a flexi-8 in your hair? ^^ I've been debating whether to buy one.
