Talking What a difference!!!!!!!!!!

WHHHHHATTTTT a difference!!! Last night I was looking at the techniques page and read about applying gel to soaking wet hair. I watched the youtube video and learned all about the squeeking noise you should hear and what not. I said to myself there is no way the product gets all the way through your hair.

I decided to try it today. My hair was DRIPPING wet and I scrunched ArcAngel into my hair and it made the squeeky noise. I then didnt know what to do with my hair because it was dripping everywhere, so I decided to do my first plop with a t****.

HOLY COW are my curls AWESOME right now with really no effort!!!!!!! Ive gotten SOOOO many comments today!

I really think I figured out why my curls were always so frizzy and broken up. I would put my gel on when my hair was a little dry from a towel!

Ive learned so much from this forum in such a little time! Thankyou everyone who takes time to post videos, pictures, blogs, and just insight.

I posted 3 pictures. The first one was taken on 4-12-12 you can see how the curls want to be there but they are frizzed out. The other two pictures are from today.

Beautiful!! For whatever reason, mine is looking like your first pic. Driving me nuts trying to figure out what's going on. I remember the first time I tried the soaking wet method. I came out after I prepped and diffused..and everyone's jaw dropped. Huge difference!!

Wow!!! That made a huge difference for you. It looks gorgeous. I only have a problem doing this because my roots get weighed down if I part my hair and then apply gel to soaking wet hair. Maybe I should try not parting right away Anyway I'm glad it worked for you!!!

I tried that method and my clumps and curls look great (my avatar is me using it), but the top would be too flat and because I don't have dense hair, the volume would be less than I like, so I went back to adding it to towel dried hair. I find if I use good products, the frizz is minimal after diffusing.

I wish I had the density and root curl/height to support continuing the soaked/gel method, but I hate flat top.

Yours look FABULOUS Beautiful curl pattern.

I do this thing that's not very, conventional. Ive always done it, even before I became more conscious about curls. I have this headband that is about 3 inches wide. When my hair is wet I will part my hair as I like then I will flip all my hair upside down. I then put the head band on, then flip my hair right side up. I pull the head band back then forward again to make the "puff" (like Flo on the progressive commercials). Ill keep my hair like this for about 15 minutes or more depending on how wet it is. You want it to be semi dry but not dry enough it with completely dry like that. Ill then take it off and let it dry the rest of the way. When its almost 100% dry ill put it back on for a few minutes (normally when Im doing my make up). This method gives me great lift on the crown and I dont get the dreaded flat top. Give it a whirl.

greencup - your hair is gorgeous! Did you diffuser dry after you plopped? If so, for how long?

Actually I diffused for a few seconds after I applied the gel. I didnt know what to do because it was soooo wet so thats when I decided to plop. After I plopped I just let it air dry. Today I did everything the same again except I skipped the diffuser.

Your hair is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your method -- and I love the hairband suggestion, too!

What gel do you use for this, (hard or soft hold)? Your curls are amazing, and I will definitely try the headband method. Oh and do you use a LI/ sealer or anything? Sorry if that's in your sig, I can't see them when I'm not on my computer.

Ive been using a LI and using either DeVa arcangel or KCCC to soaking wet hair then use a microfiber towel to scrunch my hair. I then go to the plop for about 15-20 minutes. After the plop is when I let my hair down and use the head band.
