Default Established a consistently awesome routine

I think I've finally figured out a routine that's been giving me consistently good hair days, which equals consistent 2nd day hair as well!
Here goes, for those who are also looking for another routine to try:

1. Normal shower stuff. I've been low-pooing with GioTT about 2x a week
2. Divide hair into left/right (I've always done this) and apply your LI; comb through. (optional: apply a sealer oil. I tried this yesterday and I liked the results)
3. Rake in a TON of FSG to hair; comb through again.
4. Rake in some KCCC; comb through again (all the combing is for even distribution).
5. One side at a time: scrunch n' pump.
6. Flip over, scrunch in HETT Mousse. scrunch, scrunch, scrunch.
7. Plop for 40mins-1hr
8. Let air dry a bit, then diffuse until mostly dry, clip up roots if you need it
9. SOTC and you're done!

What has helped the most I believe is combing through everything, and adding the mousse to make sure I get every bit of hair. I've had trouble getting good distribution with scrunching alone, but this has worked well. The reason I plop for so long is because at the end of this my hair is totally saturated, and even after 1+ hr of plopping my hair is still very wet (from the FSG).

Here's some pics from today's 2nd day hair. I slept with my hair down in a satin bandana to protect the back. I sectioned the hair in 4, lightly sprayed with water, then smoothed and scrunched in FSG.

Hmm... I'll have to try this! I used to do that in my pre-cg days, but I guess I thought it would pull the curl down too much and perhaps even pull too much water out of my hair making clumps harder to accomplish, too.

But your curl looks similar to mine - cant recall your properties tho. So maybe I'll give it a try!

Thanks for sharing! I can't seem to get good distribution with scrunching either, so I will try raking my product in (I don't comb) and then scrunching for more curliness. Are you adding more product when you scrunch, or just scrunching what's already in there? Have you tried this without adding mousse?

And your hair looks gorgeous!

SarhNoH, thank you! I tried a variation of this and got really great results. Some of my clumps were so big and thick that I had to separate them. That's a problem I like to have!

What I did, using totally different products than you did, was wash/condition as usual, then with my Alba cream, raked, smoothed, scrunched. Since I don't comb or brush, I figure the raking/smoothing does the same thing. By smoothing, I took both of my hands and smoothed them over each half section of my hair after raking. Raking the kind of breaks up clumps while it distributes product, but smoothing adds them back big-time. Smoothing turned each side into 1 or 2 humongous clumps. Then I split those into 3 or 4 clumps per side of my head and scrunched them sideways, all the way to my root. Then I parted, and air-dried.

I did not do anything upside down. Scrunching sideways worked so much better! Upside down, I'd have 8 or 10 perfect clumps, but once I would turn my head right-side up again, I couldn't even make out the clumps while my hair was wet. It came out ok doing it upside down, but this worked much better for clumps, and my bangs and roots dried with curl and volume.

I love this method, yay!

No problemo
For the final scrunch I'm just using the mousse, since it's pretty good at getting into all the little "niches" in my hair. However I have tried it without the mousse, and just scrunching in KCCC. I like the hold KCCC gives, but I was still having a harder time getting it everywhere.

I did this again today, but incorporated a variation to alwaysaangel's clipping trick she posted about a few days ago:
Finally found a method that works for me!
Wow! My hair was awesome today! I hardly ever get root lift, and this helped soooo much and I couldn't stop playing with my hair ^_^
