I couldn't figure out why halo frizz has been visiting me for quite a while. As I was going through my routine today, I realized that I had been going the extra mile when scrunching the excess water with a tshirt. My hair had gotten pretty long so I had started to take more time doing it to hasten drying time. Even after my drastic cut-- I was still scrunching too long. So today, I reduced the time and left it more wet than usual..and TA-DA!! At least a 75% improvement. I felt like smacking my forehead. Funny how these bad habits can sneak up on you. Patience can be your curl's friend.

I've been doing the same thing lately. I don't much like the feeling of really wet hair on my back and how it makes my shirt all wet ha ha. So I find myself squeezing too much out and then I get the whole halo frizz thing going on. I need to somehow get over my dislike of wet hair.

I tend to do that too, because I want to cut down on the amount of time my hair takes to diffuse dry. I used to air dry (and still do if I'm not going anywhere, but that takes even longer) but my hair has gotten long enough to where it will take a very long time to dry, and if its air drying it can take all day. So I plop, plop, plop to get the water out, but if you handle your hair too much you can cause alot of frizz, esp. crown frizz. Even if you're using a flour sack towel or a t-shirt, which is what I use.
You could try using paper towels, IMO you do get less frizz and you don't use as much. I don't, I know, because I'm sort of appalled at the waste of paper It helps me keep my plopping in line!
That's me with FSG as my styler!!

Good post, I get a halo of frizz once in a while and I've had no idea what causes it. Maybe I scrunched out too much water on those days.
