Default Spinoff: Renpure Organics as a Daily Low-Poo

I decided to offer myself as a guinea pig this morning and see what kind of results I get using the two new Renpure Organics shampoos (Brazilian Keratin and Argan Oil) as daily low-poos. I'm a product junkie at heart and am currently trying to kill some stash because my bathroom has become a hazard zone. I currently already cleanse my hair daily, but most days I use either a cleansing conditioner or I co-wash. Once or twice a week I rotate in a gentle sulfate shampoo. So the only real change in my routine will be my choice of product. I'll post daily with any feedback about how my hair felt during the cleansing and conditioning process and if I notice any change in how it looks when dried. I plan to try each shampoo for a full week, but if my hair starts to get really dried out and awful, I'll be stopping sooner. My hair properties are 3a/F/iii, normal elasticity.
MirCurls likes this.

I just used the keratin shampoo. So much better than the GF pure clean and EverSleek (the only low poos I've tried so far). It did not strip my hair at all from what I could tell.

I'm looking forward to your results of your experiment.

Day 1. I made sure to use the same level of agitation that I use with co-washing. Hair felt clean, definitely not stripped- no squeaky-clean. I think it felt slightly less dry than my sulfate shampoo (most low-poos leave my hair feeling more dry than my sulfate shampoo). This doesn't surprise me since Sunday was a second day hair day, Monday I used my new Curly Kinks cleanser and yesterday I tried co-pooing. I'm curious to see how my hair feels with continued use. I followed with the Renpure Keratin conditioner.

Day 2: This is where it will start to be interesting to see results. I don't know if I've ever used a low-poo two days in a row. Hair felt a little drier today (I would say cleaner, but I don't want to imply that my hair didn't feel clean before)- not bad though. Almost to the point of squeaky, but not quite. I guess tomorrow will be the real moment of truth.

What rinse out are you using? I'm thinking I may try my slightly more drying low poos and then use something like GVP CB to combat that, but I wasn't sure if you were using a really moisturizing conditioner, and if that was making a difference.

Yesterday I used the Renpure keratin RO. Today I (finally!!) tried the Aubrey Organics RO you recommended. I just did SOTC and my ends are still feeling soft. I do have some GVPCB and will use it if I feel like I need to, but so far my other ROs seem to be taking care of it.

I had a different result. Very drying and stripping (crazy squeaks) with extra frizz after using the keratin poo.

Everyone has different mileage, huh?

I'm anxiously looking forward to Corinna's week with the Argan formula! I'm protein-sensitive, so the Keratin is off limits, just to prove MirCurl's point : )

Corrina, thanks so much for putting your hair at risk for our edification!

Lol- it helps me try to use up some of my extra products. Although this one doesn't seem too bad as one to keep on hand. I just pretty much lost the need to low-poo. I can get away with co-washing most of the time and I have a gentle sulfate shampoo that's loaded with protein (my hair LOVES protein), so I have a way to remove buildup or a rare cone. But by the time I figured that out, I had 9 (yes, NINE) different low-poos piled in my bathroom, most only used 2 or 3 times.

Which one is the one with loads of protein? The CHS Treatment one? Oh and have you tried Curl Keeper yet? I'm curious to try it.

Yes- Treatment Shampoo is loaded with protein and has one of the shortest ingredient lists I've ever seen. I have tried Curl Keeper- at first I really only liked it with Re:Coil and Biotera Gel when I diffused my hair (my going out look). Then I saw a thread about using it alone with leave-in. That seems to work really well for me when I air dry, which is most days (I still have to mix in a drop of Biotera gel for extra hold). My hair is so shiny when I do this!

After I finish up my samples, I'm gonna have to order some from aveyou; you know my hair likes protein about as much as yours does, so I'm sure it'll be thrilled to get that.

It's amazing right before my PT/DT. I figure if the reason that sulfates are considered is because they open the cuticle on the hair, that if I'm then loading up on good stuff like protein and moisture it negates the negative.

Day 3. If not for the integrity of this experiment, I would not have washed my hair today. I've been battling a sinus infection and a migraine for most of the week and I overslept today. But I didn't want to have to start all over.

I have to give a disclaimer- in the interest of trying to test worst case scenario, I have been using much more of the shampoo than I normally would, as well as much more agitation than I would use for a low-poo. And today I did get some squeaking in some areas. I wash and rinse right-side up and the top of my hair was squeaking a little bit. It seemed to be fine after my RO- today I used Giovanni Smooth as Silk. There have been low-poos that left my hair so squeaky that even my RO couldn't get rid of the squeakiness. This was not the case today.

I suspect this won't be an issue tomorrow as I'm anticipating at least 4 hours of training tonight. That's the one thing that has been abnormal this week- my normally very frequent and intense training schedule has been dialed back considerably because of the sinus infection and migraine. So my hair has not been getting as sweaty and gross as it normally does, which probably means that squeaky clean today would not have happened under normal circumstances.

Oh Corrina, I really hope you feel better! Considering the circumstances, sounds like the Keratin is performing quite well.

We'll be watching for tomorrow's hair diary entry : ) And don't overdo it tonight!

It is definitely working well so far. I wouldn't even consider trying a week straight for a lot of the low-poos I've tried.

I won't have much of a choice about tonight. I fully expect to be read the riot act tonight for my lack of training this week (because I'm on the tournament team I'm expected to train very frequently). Like if I collapse it would be seen as a positive because I pushed myself to my absolute limit.

Sounds like the old Soviet methods of grooming athletes! We'll be looking for you in Rio in 2016 : )
