This whole hair type thing...

I've been natural a few years now, but my hair is very abnormal, so although I've got myself as a 3c I'm still not sure after all this time.
Now, when I wash my hair and it dries, it has lots and lots of curls... all different sizes and loosness/tightness, but with lots of frizz. When I comb it, it is nearly all frizz but with curls inside it. BUT when I comb it all thoroughly, there is probably 1 or 2 curls left, and my hair is like a soft Afro, but not enough of an Afro to rock the Afro out.
Tbh, I don't even know if I have Afro or curly hair because I have both!!
No pics yet, as I only signed up yesterday, but I hope you can understand without pics.

I don't usually go with this whole hair type thing, because so many people have the same curls but need different treatment, but it would be interesting to know what I might be.

That's because curl type is less important for choosing products/ingredients then hair properties. Here's a link to help you with yours Live Curly Live Free - Home Once you determine your properties, you can look for people with hair like yours and see what they use (in signatures.)

Usually, the tighter the curl, the more fragile and dryer the hair.

You should never comb your hair unless it's wet and full of conditioner.

Hi @Coconilla

Your hair sound so much like mine. I have my hair marked as 3C but of course when wet and it dries I have variations of curl size and waves in some places. Right now I'm rocking an agri puff becuz I combed my curls out. I have clumps of but curls in there somewhere but most of it is frizzy. I don't think about it any longer. I'm finding, by process of elimination, what products work for my hair. All I want is healthy, growing hair.

But if I was to brush them dry, or let my hair dry without leaving in conditioner or other product, I have soft, puffy frizz with a curl or wave here and there, afro-ish but not a nice, big, amazing one. Even when I "do" my hair, the curls are a range of 3 different sizes, but this doesn't bother me or influence how I take care of my hair.
