Default Any had luck with non-heat rollers?

As much as I'd love to but some Curlformers, they're so expensive!
So, has anyone had any luck with other, non heat rollers? It looks like Sallys has a bunch of inexpensive options from Salon Care (foam rollers, magnetic or not). I've heard the magnetic ones are good to avoid indentations from the clips that foam rollers usually come with.

NOT velco. God forbid....

I prefer flexi rods, the curls I get are lovely and comparable to Curlformers for much cheaper.
I used to experiment with regular rollers but the dent they left in my hair were a pain to work out.

Yes! things like those (why could I not think of the word before?). It looks like those aren't expensive at all, so maybe I'll try them. Now to find a store that sells them (I can't buy stuff online--bad shipping address).

I got these foam rollers from cvs, less than ten bucks, and they worked very well in my hair. I slept with them in and in the Morning my longest layers were above my shoulders(normally bsl). I had a harder time trying to elongate them, but I don't think that would have been so bad if I didnt keep them in that long.
