Do you get similar frizz?

I have come to believe that some frizz is a fact of life! We just gotta live with it. I'd rather have some frizz with my waves and curls than no frizz and straight hair!

I get this kind of frizz too - as others have said, it doesn't really show in pics unless they are close up. Since I've started using FSG and eliminating protein, aloe and glycerin from most of my products it has helped, but there is always a some frizz.

I've decided that the frizz is okay and have been focusing more on how my hair feels (soft, manageable, etc.)

2c/3a, botticelli/wavy/'swavy (huh?)
fine, dense, normal porosity/elasticity, dry climate

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

I get that type of frizz all the time too . Lately I've been just trying to accept the fact that my hair will probably always have it. No matter what products I use it's still there.

normal elasticity
high density

& still trying to figure the rest out
As others have said, as annoying as my halo frizz is, I have come to accept it as part and parcel of my curly hair texture. I think I'm more conscious of it than other people are since I've never had anyone comment on it.

I tried the honey today and it's probably not the best day to test, as it's rainy and humid here and that always affects my hair (but "optimal" curls/dews according to the Frizz Forecast, I will never understand this). It definitely did something-- my hair is still not quite dry after 8 hours, that's long even for me, unless I use something like KCCC. I didn't get the normal crunch I get while my hair dries, which worries me that I won't have the hold I usually get. My usual kind of frizz is still there, and my hair feels a little oily (though I guess it's honey, not oil). I'm intrigued enough to try it again though, maybe in my RO conditioner instead of my styler. Not to guano the thread I started, lol, but honey's a humectant like glycerin, right?

Oh no, my hair seems to be reacting to honey like it does pure oils. Oiliness, frizz, lack of definition, hard in spots.

My honey experiment was a fail. 10 hours to dry and I look like I have a bad '80s perm with frizz that looks like the kind I've gotten when I used too much glycerin--not the kind we've been talking about in this thread, but pure, no definition frizz. Well, now I know! I still appreciate the suggestion.

Just wanted to share today's results! I used suave coconut instead of kCKT as a leave in and actually found it much more hydrating. My hair looks better and I think I will be ditching the KT as a leave in for good. I even noticed the suave coconut condish has honey, which I know was recommended here. I still have my usual frizz but it seems to be less. I am going to try an even more moisturizing leave in next time and see if I can do better!
My hair: 3b, corkicelli, medium porosity, medium texture, medium/thick density

Co-wash: DevaCurl NoPoo
Rinse-out: GVP Conditioning Balm
Leave-in: KCKT, Suave Naturals Coconut, or my rinse-out!
Gel: SS FHG (my new HG!!)... I also like HESMU, AIF, CJ CQ, BRHG, CJ PP and the occasional LALSG

Likes: Plopping!
Dislikes: Glycerin

CG and loving it!
I get this type of frizz worse than any of you I believe, and I've tried everything from honey to flaxseed gel. I think it is because I have different curl sizes and textures. I've tried commercial gels, various leave-ins and different oils. I have frizz, it is part of my unique hair. I've learned to accept it...maybe even love it.

Your hair curls so beautifully though...the haze of frizz just adds character in my opinion. I love it. <3

Oh and as for the honey, It was a huge success for me! I added some to my conditioner, and it made my hair easier to detangle and softer and more moisturized. And I added some to my gel, resulting in shinier curls and less frizz. Really, the only frizz I had was caused by me touching my hair so much lol. Andddd, second day hair! I never get good second day hair. And possibly third day hair. We'll see. So far...honey is definitely what my hairs been missing!

The only other experiments I can think of to try is a totally glycerin-free routine or oil-free routine (pretty sure it's not protein), things my hair doesn't like much of. But experimenting to that degree is usually not worth the expense (or the bad, bad hair days). I'll probably just decide to accept and love this frizz like some of you.

I part my hair into two sections and use a glob of gel on each side, and added about a pea size amount if not a tiny bit bigger amount to each side mixed in with my gel.

I know this is a couple of days late, but I posted pictures of my frizz and I wanted to show you a different picture taken the same day (with the same amount of frizz) but from a distance without the resolution of the first picture.

Sometimes we see our own faults (especially physical ones) through a magnifying glass - we see flaws that others just don't see because they aren't that invested in our view of 'perfect curls.'
