New, need help typing, clumping, defrizzing! ( pic )

Hi everyone

I am new and have been using devacurl products for a few weeks. I am having trouble with forming curls on the bottom half of my hair. The last 6 inches just get frizzy and stringy.

Hair hx: Long hx 20 + years of fighting frizz with harsh shampoos, and tons of silicone products. I have used both hot irons and hot rollers to smooth curl and defrizz. I lost quite a bit of hair last fall and the new hair seems to have grown in super curly which is why I am trying to work with the curl rather than fighting the curl.

I don't know if I need more moisture or not? I would think so because for so many years of cones my hair got no moisture at all

My hair use to be thick but since the big hair shed in the fall it is really thin and fine. I am super gentle with it.

any thoughts?

Any ideas on what type my hair is? (I put my pic in another post but decided to get some direct help because I really want natural CG hair to work for me!!)

Often when there is damagefrom get or processing protein will help. Now, if your hair doesn't like protein, it may cause another set of problems. The only way to know is to experiment. :/

But it feeling dry like it does, I'd say you certainly need moisture! (Protein can be drying, so if you do protein treatments at all, you'll want to follow up with a moisture treatment, too.).

What are you doing now? Co-washing? Low pooing? You'll need to learn your hair properties, for sure.

You could try sleeping with a DT in! And certainly put a LOT of LI in! I always was afraid that would weigh my hair down, but going cone free has shown me that my hair can take a LOT of condish and not be weighed down!

Thanks! I am no poo no silicone right now. I have super dry skin so I've always been an infrequent shampooer but I've ODed on silicone in the past.
That sounds familiar!!

You are using deva stuff, right? I didn't have any luck with their stuff. It made my hair feel goopy.

I'm on an all drugstore plan - cheap stuff all the way!!

Do you know your hair properties? That is job #1 in sorting out what products to use.

I'm sure you clarified to get rid of any remaining cones, right?
