Sheesh, Lyn, NONE of those stores are in the Midwest! and I dont think I have seen it anywhere here, but Ill be in Target later today. Is it a Canadian product? I think for today, I will try the large duckbill clips - maybe get some more. Raindear, I'll continue my search for the octopus clips. There is a Sally here too, maybe a quick stop today...what we dont do for our hair!

Unfortunately, I think most of the stores that Lyn mentions are Canadian stores. I'll have to pick up a bottle of that next time I happen to visit the Great White North!

I actually have the same problem with the root lift AND the roots not drying and just today it freaked me out again!
I have 3c hair so it SHOULD be voluminous, but lately the roots are just flat. I'm CG, I tried clipping, gel, diffusing...clipping has no effect (though I might be doing it wrong) and diffusing just gets the top part flying and the rest stringy.
Help?

I know some of my problem is that I color my hair, which is probably mostly silver. So, when the new growth starts coming in, that has a different texture than the rest of my hair, and I think it contributes to lacking "lift". I ordered the CHS clips - pricey, with the shipping - but if they dont work, they dont work..maybe a lighter conditioner?

I haven't been to Walmart yet to see if the product is there. The site listed Walmart as a provider. I'll let you know if it's there!

Protein gives hair that little perk of the curls, which aids in getting that fuller look too. I agree with the others... root clips and diffusing the hair upside down works with getting volume. Ruffling the air gently helps too. A haircut with shorter layers around the crown (among other places) can also help you.

HTH!

Myrna, just curious, have you ever tried plopping? I was a huge skeptic and almost got tired of reading about until one day I finally decided to try it after watching a bunch of youtube videos. I've seriously never had so much lift and curl all the way to my roots and my hair is about 4-5 inches from my tailbone (when stretched).

All you need is a long sleeved t-shirt

Plopping Revisited (Long Sleeved T-shirt Method) - YouTube

Let me know if you ever give it a try, k?

Hi, Sheila, thanks for thinking of me and my search for volume! I used to sort of plop - but, like many curlies, I have 3 lengths of hair, and the shortest layers, by my face, do not lend themselves well to the plopping technique. I am in the process of growing those short layers with my Deva stylist. What I have been doing for volume is using CHS roller Jaw clips - they work really well. Much easier than the metal ones that Deva salons use and suggest.

Awesome Myrna, I'm glad you found something that works well! I'm watching the video on how to use the roller jaw clips right now! Thanks!
