Mineral oil: don't knock it 'til you try it!!

Well, the frizz monster is here. But I think it is more from curl disruption/disturbance than the MO. It has been VERY windy today and my wool coat lapels catching the curls didn't help.

Yes, but I believe that argan oil contains cones - at least the ones that aren't pure argan, and have a heat protectant. So if someone is CG, that won't be an option for them.

Just from what I've read, nothing will seal better than MO - though some people's hair may not like MO.

Well I'm always pretty skeptical about using things in my hair that I normally wouldn't, but, I noticed you said MO would be good on highly porous hair so I thought I would give it a shot. I normally use either coconut oil or grapeseed oil ...only if I'm using an oil at all.
Anyway, bought the baby oil yesterday, and as you suggested I got the kind with mineral oil and fragrance only. I used it over kckt then put kccc over that while my hair was still very wet. I plopped while I got dressed and did my make up them diffused.
Well, I'll start by saying that it took FOREVER to dry even when the diffuser. I ended up going to work with it still about 25% wet. But...omg, by the time I got to work, wow, I had no frizz and the curls were soooo soft, bouncy and defined!! I got alot of shrinkage...which I love because it made my hair spiral more than usual. I'm sitting here with it still slightly wet around the nape but I've started to fluff it out and I'm loving how it looks and feels!
Thanks so much for suggesting this and for sharing your method, it works!!
Yay!! I'm so happy it helped you!!

I haven't noticed increased drying time, though, so I wonder if its the combination of the MO and the KCCC?

Maybe you can play with amounts and see if that gets any better. But I'm glad it worked for you!! I was very skeptical when I tried it, too. I fully expected it to fail. Lol!

You should post a pic!!

So, do you just use Johnson's baby oil (pink lid just MO and fragrance?) Cuz I have some of that on hand (I have a 19 month old). Can I just use that?
also, how would you go about applying this? I have a few different products, but I'm thinking the smoothie, which I usually use, will be too much oil with the MO. Which is fine. I have KCCC, SM Smoothie, Curls Creme Brûlée, FSG, ag curl trigger, KC spiral spritz. What should I use together?

"The Longer the Hair, the Bigger the Blob."

Porous, very dense but fine hair. Medium everything else.
CoWash: Tressemee naturals
RO: Generic biolage and generic joico k-pak
LI: Tresemee
Miss Jessie's Pillow soft curls, diffuse 50%, add KCCC and diffuse to 80%.
Always wash upside down.
Yes, that's what mine is! (The pink lid)

As far as what to combine... That's up to you, I suppose. :/ I don't know all those products from experience.

What I can tell you is that I use a TON of LI under my MO, put it on soaking wet hair (over the LI, under gel.)

After the MO, I put some SM soufflé (today I added a little Epsom), then some LALS gel. I then MF towel scrunch, add a little more gel mixed with a bit of oil to the ends, then plop.

Once in a while I'll add a little gel (usually spray) to my hair after I take the plop down if it feels a little too "soft".

Then I clip and diffuse to 50-80%, depending on my plans for the day.

I tried it with kckt and kccc but I'm going to try it with a different gel tomorrow.
I use MO (3 drops) combined with Argan oil (pure)-one pump, on top of a little leave in. Top with FSG and scrunch in some KCCC or other gel with fantastic results. This seems to be just enough of the two oils for my hair.

On another note, I'm finding I don't need much (if any) conditioner left in since using a new method found here. When I apply my RO conditioner, I squeeze it into my hair, set a few minutes and completely rinse. My hair stays/feels moisturized and soft. I've been doing this successfully rather than just applying a RO, letting it set for a little bit and then just rinsing. If I'd don't squeeze in my conditioner then I have to reapply more conditioner as a leave in. I hope this makes sense. I've done this with all my conditioners and love how my hair turns out.

Ok here are the results of using the MO yesterday. I wanted to wait until it was completely dry at the end of my work day before giving my opinion. I really love how it makes my hair feel the most, just soooo soft. I usually have straw like ends because I have lots of split ends and damage due to years of bleach over bleach when I was highlighting it. I've gone back to my natural color but still, the bleach damage is there.
Anyway, back to the mo! I switched it up today and Instead of cowashing like I did yesterday (used the new SM cowash), I used natures gate shampoo and conditioner. I used kcnt again as my LI (pea size) and 5 drops MO then used Alba botanica hair gel. Combed through, plopped, diffused until almost dry, smoothed down any fly aways with aussie instant freeze and left to work.
Sotc with CD tui oil at work and got a gazillion big curls all over with minor frizz (yes, I couldn't stop playing with it so I'm sure thats the cause. Lol).
Also, it dried much faster today since I omitted the kccc, but I think kccc made it shinier.here are yesterdays results.Mineral oil: don't knock it 'til you try it!!-uploadfromtaptalk1360686555333.jpg
Beautiful!! I'm so glad it's working for you!! It did wonders for me in the summer, and I was afraid the winter would be a problem. But it SOOO has not been! It really holds that moisture in, doesn't it??? And it keeps that humidity at bay in the summer more than anything else I've tried! My hair used to go to limp, stringy frizz in high humidity, but the MO helps that so much!!

Hope you have continued success!!

Ps - how are you liking that SM co-wash??

I just tried it, I don't know why I waited so long! I was afraid of it because I've tried (and hated) a lot of products that had it as an ingredient but alone it is AMAZING. It made my hair so soft, shiny, smooth, and it's amazing how much the tangling at the nape of my neck also decreased! My hair is way more shiny than with botanical oils too. This very well could be HG.

Darn you jas!

I went to Walgreens, looking for the kids line if Shea moisture (for baby lotion) and of course, it was the BOGO, and so I HAD to get the soufflé. Drat.
