So I found this site earlier this week and I've been trying to read and retain but there's just so much information. I have curly hair - I think 2c-3a describes it best. I've been away from the straightener for a while, I just have so much it took too long to straighten it.

I flipped though the pages if the curly girl book and I ended up with a deva cut and the AnGel. I love the idea of a gel that doesn't stay crunchy, I didn't know that was possible.

I tried the no poo method in the fall doing bs and acv but I couldn't find a formulation that my hair liked. Since then I've been using Live Clean Exotic Argan oil shampoo and conditioner. My hair still feels dry despite following up with more argan oil cream - which is supposedly the best thing sliced bread.

I tried holding a strand of my hair up to the light to see it's density and I think it looked course. And I slide my fingers along a strand and I think it seems normal as far as porosity goes.

I usually get a lot of halo frizz with some frizz down the sides and back.
After all that summarizing and all of my reading here so far, I just have no idea where to start as far as products go. I don't have the money to go clear off the shelves so how do I narrow down with things that are likely to work for me? Our is it really just blindtrial and error?

I have the same hair as you! I went to a curly hair salon and they washed my hair with sulfate free shampoo, used mixed chicks conditioner (the argan oil one is just as good i tried it) and then a spray gel. She used DevaCurl one and it worked great! Make sure you scrunch it in when the hair is rly wet and dont touch your curls after that! (will cause frizz)

Welcome, skiporchid! It can all be overwhelming at first. It takes some patience, trial and error to find the products and techniques that will bring out the best in your hair. Many of us have found drug store products that work well. There are several threads that pop up discussing this. Here's a link to one of the latest ones : Good CG Drugstore Products? I often use the product review section to research a product before I buy it. Finally, read posters' signatures. Many mention their hair type and favorite products. You'll get lots of great ideas by doing that.

I'll suggest a product: Giovanni Direct Leave In. It's a really great moisturizer, and can be found at Target, but I've found it at a health food store too.
