Any 2c/3a's have bangs that they keep curly?
Or do you all straighten them?
Mine are sort of side swept, and I typically straighten them (well, I use a curling iron to give them direction.)
I've considered trying to keep them natural, but I'm not sure they have enough curl to them for that to work.
Thoughts?? Pics? Suggestions??

I've learnt the hard way that curly hair is best left without bangs. They just become a pain to maintain without having to use heat tools everyday

I don't disagree at all! It's just that I NEED bangs. . I hadn't had them in YEARS until this year, bc I kept seeing pictures of me with my hair back and I realized the no-bangs thing was just not a good look for me.

i have had bangs and no bangs. no bangs looks so boring on me. i totally understand!
i had some bettie bangs and straightened them (about 3/4 the time) for about a year, and now i'm growing them out. my hair has 2c and 3a and 3b parts, but my bangs curl up pretty tightly and cutely half grown out.... and i think i like them better curly. try it out and if you don't like it, buy some bobby pins and figure out cute ways to pin them as they grow.
they might look awesome! just a thought.

I know that a lot of curlies would say that straight bangs with curls don't mix, and I can definitely understand that as it is a strange concept, but I straighten mine and have done so for years because I feel more confident wearing bangs than showing my forehead and this area of my hair doesn't curl as well as the rest of my 3a curls. It's my cute little 'quirk' and I'm happy to keep it that way, lol!

Lol! Well, I don't mind wearing mine straight, but it would be easier if I could just wear them curly.
I deal with having to get them out of my eyes all day long, which drives me nuts.
Sigh. Idk.

I had mine cut to a side sweep starting at the eyebrow. I hated them because my stylist cut them wet so obviously they bounced up to about my forehead. As they grew out I really really liked them. I think the key is having them long enough so that when they curl up they arent super short. My hair is a side diagonal part so that my forehead is covered and my "bangs" start at my temple/top of ear and are angled back. Love them now.

Have you tried twisting them around your finger? I find that with a little water and light hold, I can manipulate my bangs in the proper direction.

have 2c/3a hair and i've had bangs in the past. the key for me was to comb them to the side when wet and then diffuse them out of the way a little. u just have to train ur hair to do it. u can also try doing it with clips, but i find that that often gave me the pasted-against-my-head look which i dread. good luck!

I agree it's another curly challenge to get your bangs right. But like you, I look best with some bangs - so I have them cut long and angled to the sides. I don't straighten them because that just isn't a look I like. However, I do pull them down a little when I'm styling so when they're dry they lay not straight but also not too short and curled in some dorky fashion. Like other aspects of curldom, some days it works better than others! You'll probably need to play with your bangs after you put in your styler, maybe using clips until the hair dries, to get them to lay how you want them. HTH

Mine have grown out some but when I had them I kept them long-ish & angled, side swept and finally let them go curly after continuing to straighten them for months. See pics. I really liked them, sometimes I'd pin them down lightly while drying to control the direction

I've gone through everything with my bangs: straightening, blow drying straight, even putting a huuuuge curler in them to make them straight but with a flip.
I eventually decided to just let them be natural and although it didn't look the best when they were first getting used to not being straightened, after about a month they look great!
I think yours might come around eventually
HTH!

how long are you bangs? I guess I used to have bangs, but they've grown out so much... like at least 2-3 inches past my chin stretched out, and just below it curled xD. I'm planning on going in for a trim in the next few days but I'm not sure how short to cut them.
And lcl706, I totally envy your hair

thanks that was probably my best hair day ever, even I envy those pics since I cant quite ever duplicate that haha!
Id say if the shortest ones were eye length when curly in those pics, theyre probably chin length now, or just past. They dont really look like bangs anymore. I need to have them trimmed back up.

Man lcl0706, every time I see pics of your hair, I'm so jealous! You have beautiful curls.
I've been thinking about getting bangs (had some angled bangs once that I left curly, but otherwise I generally don't). Here's some pics I found of celebs with "curly bangs" that are making me think about this for myself - I don't think traditional, cut straight across bangs would work for me, but I like the idea of them being sort of a shorter "layer" that blends into the rest of the cut (I don't want to have to spend extra time "styling" them at all, either straightening or fixing the curls). What do you guys think?

Thanks for the input, guys!
See, I'd like to let mine go natural, but I don't think they have enough curl. The front if my hair has always been slightly less curly than the back.
They do have a bend to them, for lack of better term. And given my curls (especially in front) aren't super tight, it's not a huge contrast and I don't think it looks too "off". I'll keep experimenting with clipping and see if that gets me anywhere, but I don't know.
Maybe I'll head to the deva stylist sometime soon, too.

I think you should go for it - and I think it would look fine even if your bangs aren't as curly as the rest of your hair - might make it easier to transition out of straightening them (not as much of a shock). Just looking at your avatar pic, I think some bangs with softer curls/waves would look nice.

Thanks! I actually do have bangs - That's an older pic in that avi! (and actually pre-cg).
I'm just trying to sort out what to do with them! Right now I am experimenting, but typically use a curling iron to give them some direction. I tried clipping them today - didn't go well, though that has worked for me in the past a couple times.
I'm at loss. They tend to fall in my eyes, look limp and stringy, etc. when I have tried wearing them natural they just look ...odd. Idk anymore.

What's weird is my "bangs" are actually curlier than the rest of my hair... much more consistently corkscrew, but in thin clumps.
You could try skinny foam rollers to set your bangs, than way you don't have to use a heat tool. I have to use those on some hair around my face because it goes 2a/2b
