Default EXTREME damage Seeking advice!

Sweet mother of CURLS!!! I am currently deployed to Djibouti, Africa. My hair has started to split sporadically down just about the entire length of my hair strands.( I would guesstimate this is the case with about 25% of my head) This breaks my heart because I have about 2 years of growth. So my question is, will I have to cut all my hair off or is there a way to save it once I am back in normal east coast weather?

You could try a protein treatment then just moisturize your hair really well. Other than that I hope other curlies have some better advice, good luck!

Wow, that's awful.

Can you post more about your hair properties? Like, does it like/respond well to protein? Are you a 2, 3, 4, etc.?

There are some good treatments out there that can be very restorative, but I'd hate to say "try this" without knowing what type or texture your hair is.

I have a combination of 4a-c hair. I try to keep it moisturized but I have very dry hair. I am still learning about my hair and what it likes so I think it likes the protein treatment but when I look at the youtube videos and the girls talk about how they hair is immediately softer I dont get those results. For my protein treatments I am using organic root hair mayo.

Sounds like your location has changed drastically and your hair is reacting. All that I know about Djbouti is that it is very hot and dry, so all the moisture that you are putting in is getting zapped right out.

Do you know the dew point? Air and water quality? These are also contributing factors.

Also, has your diet, exercise and sleeping regimen drastically changed?
