Well, it's morning and my hair looks like crap. Apparently I over did the grapeseed oil or my leave-in. My hair is stringy and greasy and I don't have time to fix it before work. Looks like it's going to be a bun day. I can't wait to wash my hair! Oh well, I'll try again tonight.

That's how it is with oil, unfortunately! If you get even a tiny bit too much, it can be disastrous!! :/

Im fine, porous, & my hair absolutely hated grapeseed oil so much Ive been afraid to try anything else. And I'm with Kathy on the dewpoints lol, ours were 78 last night. I'm just dealing with it. The frizz I've had lately isnt that bad.

Does it take your hair longer to dry after sealing with oil? I have low poreus hair, so I am a bit scared that I'll walk around all day with wet hair.

I only use the TINIEST amount of grape seed oil on my ends. Like the last four inches. If I use more or on more of my hair it gets stringy and greasy.

My hair is fine/low porosity. I don't use oil, but use really rich products that contain oils and butters. In the higher dew points, I only use two products--minute amount of the rich product topped with a jelly product. It often takes my hair a while to absorb the product after it's dry. My hair gets better throughout the day.

I'm pretty heavy-handed when it comes to applying products, so naturally I over did it with the grapeseed oil. I just can't picture in my head how to distribute just a teeny tiny little bit of oil! Less is more…Less is more, lol!

My hair was super soft so that was positive, but if felt so good to wash my hair tonight. I skipped on the oil for today (chicken!) but will try again, as soon as I learn how to distribute that drop of oil properly...

As far as distributing a small amount - do it when your hair is really wet! You can even mix some with your LI to help distribute it.

Thanks Jas, that idea helps me out quite a bit. I thought it was important to make sure that it was on top of the leave-in but under a gel? Or is that what just works for some?

I'm going to try mixing a drop in my leave-in next time! Thanks!

Thanks Jas! I'll try your suggestions.
And Kathymack: I've done something similar with CJ products. First wash with DF then CCCC-Lite as a LI and then my regular gel for hold. Worked out just fine. Never thought my hair could handle butters+oils.
When I use plain oil in my ends I end up with smooth ends and poof hair on my head. Terrible.

I have shoulder length fine hair. I seal with 1 (or 2 if it drops real fast!) drop of 100% pure argan oil. I use the John Master's brand from Whole Foods. I have never tried any other types of oils, so I can't compare that. I had done a lot of research and there were so many raves about argan, I figured I'd give that a try. I have had little to no frizz since I started using it. And I live in the same area as KM, so we've had some high dew points. I apply LI first (KCKT) and then put 1 drop of argan oil in my hands and rub them together, then just smooth my hands over the bottom 2/3's of the length of my hair. I totally avoid the roots with the oil. Then I follow with KCCC. I don't over apply any of my products because I prefer a more natural hold and softer feel. I've found that the argan oil absolutely makes my hair feel softer and lighter and certainly seems to help with the frizz. I'm very happy with my hair routine, at least for now!

Hi 2poodles, thanks for your reply! You've inspired me to look for some KCCC on the swap board (I haven't tried any since my first year of CG) and to order some argon oil. I'm going to go with a cheaper option by Now Foods through iHerb.com, $12.22 for 2 ounces so that'll work

Good luck, sheilacurl - try to start with just one drop of the argan oil and avoid your roots - that truly may be all you need.

Thanks! I just noticed that your porosity is low, maybe kccc is better for those with lower porosity than I. My technique is better than it used to be so I can't wait to try it again anyway. So that gives you enough hold during high dew points with nothing over top of it?

sheilacurl - I've added a photo of my hair to my signature so you get a sense of what it looks like. I've started to highlight my hair to help camouflage the gray, so probably the porosity will be changing! At any rate, I prefer a softer hold so I don't need anything on top of the KCCC. And I definitely use a "less is more" philosophy when it comes to adding product. I probably only use a scant quarter-size amount of KCCC rubbed between my hands for my entire head of hair. Seems to work for me. HTH's!

2poodles, thanks for your details about how you seal. I had no idea how to do it and not end up an oily mess for the workday. I usually oil my hair at night, but I will have to try this over the weekend. I tend to overdo. Like 1-2 drops of oil sounds so minuscule to me, but I will try that amount.

I have argan oil.

Ladies who use grape seed oil, where do you get yours from?
