Thoughts about fine hair

I have very fine hair, but I have a ton of it. My stylist has pointed this out to me before, but I think the winter accentuates it. My hair just seems to fly up into the stratosphere. (I do better straightening in winter). Anyway, I tried some products for fine hair (Goldwell--remember I'm straightening), and realized that I have probably been over-moisturizing my hair when I wear it curly.

I can achieve really pretty ringlets on the bottom of my hair, but my scalp is always flat, mostly wavy, and a bit greasy (using Devacurl, Jessicurl, even Ouidad, etc.) And I breakout along the hairline, etc.. Unfortunately, it seems like I need that much weight to get the kind of curl definition I like.

Is this a situation where I'm not accepting my hair's limitations? Am I trying to create something that my hair just isn't meant to do? Does anyone else have this problem?
I have exactly the same thing this winter. I have fine hair and no matter what I do it always wilts away NO volume whatsoever at the top 3-4 inches just curl at the ends. I have tried clips and diffusing, plopping, claw clips you name it nothing seems to help. I even shampooed with sulfates for the first time in over a year thinking maybe I needed to clarify but it went WAY flatter again. Tried mousse last nite no volume just flat and lifeless. It has been suggested to me to try natures gate co so I may do that, maybe I need to change condish...changing products has not seemed to help tho. Sorry Im no help I just had to commiserate :^)
Lots of Fine easily weighed down 3A curls
PJ currently loving Devacare one c, CEHT,& Durahold but still searching for HGs
Finally grew out my bad layers!!!
I don't have the same weather-related problem, and my hair is medium, not fine, but the products I've been using lately have weighed my hair down. For me, the answer was a shampoo with sulfates. I just don't need all the moisture the CG products offer. It may get a little dry eventually. Time will tell. If it does, though, I'll just do a dt.
