WEN Summer Mango Coconut
Has anyone tried this? I was very tempted by the Sweet Almond Mint a while back until I saw shea butter in the ingredients. This one is shea-free, however, so I thought it might be worth a shot.
There was also a Gardenia Green Tea formula for the spring, which is no longer available (except on Amazon and eBay) but also sounds promising.
Any feedback on either version would be greatly appreciated!

These have silicones in them, don't they? I've been tempted to try the Wen products for ages, but the silicones always scare me off.

Yes they do, and some people say it build up after a while, but I figured I would alternate WEN with other products. (At that price, I'd need to stretch it out anyway!)
But there's so many people that swear by WEN, and it's been around quite a while, so there must be something to it ... right?
I guess I'm always looking for that hair miracle - the magic product that will solve all my problems In the end, I think I'll stick with what's in my cabinet.

I am sure that WEN is a great product that works for many, but it was not MY miracle. I was very disappointed with it.

That's what I thought. I think the thing with Wen is that it's marketed really well. I wouldn't pay that much $ though. Like you said, at that price you'd need to stretch it out.
The silicones are just a huge no-no for me. I'll use a water-soluble cone in CJ CIAB, and that's it. I won't use a cone in the product that's supposed to be my cowash and condish because to me, that's just defeating the purpose.
But otherwise, I do think the principle is sound - it's the same principle we toute in a CG routine: no sulfates, use a cowash, use an organic, emollient-rich conditioner, etc. We just don't use cones
Alot of those people who swear by Wen are paid to, LOL. I haven't seen to many of the curly girls on this board who swear by it. I admit though, the Wen people make their system look soooo tempting!! I think we are all searching for that next miracle system for our hair. But a good cowash will work miracles too, esp. if you alternate it with a low poo once in a while, and have a good conditioner that you like.

Thanks for all your feedback! From surfing the reviews here and CurlyNikki, it seems like it's a 70/30 split between those who love WEN and those who don't. In the end, it's hard to justify that kind of expense.
Co-washing didn't work for me, so I'm experimenting with various low-poos. I'm not religiously cone-free, although that would definitely be my preference if I find the right CG styler.
Here's hoping I can find one with the enticing scent of mango and coconut

I've been using Wen for the last year and a half and absoulutely love it. It is expensive, but for me it's worth it. The cleansing conditioners have a lot of protein and I believe that is why there are so many mixed opinions about it. My hair loves protein. I've tried all the scents except the seasonal pumpkin one and I haven't tried the coconut mango yet. My favorite is the tea tree hands down then lavendar. If you want to give Wen a shot the best place to get it is QVC. They have kits with smaller sizes of all the scents, they do all work differently so that's how I discovered my favorites. I never would have ordered Tea Tree otherwise. Also, don't waste your time with the stylers, they are loaded with cones and are useless on curls, in my opinion.

Try Renpures Ren. Its a copy of wen. I like that its more cleansing and less of a conditioner. I have to use a rinse out conditioner after it. I shampoo about 1-2 times a week but my gel is not a cg gel. I find it works really well with cg products that rinse with water. Its $9.99 for a 16 oz bottle. I am on my second purchase. I really like all the renpure conditioners and shampoos. The protein they use in their products dont seem to bother my hair.

WEN Sweet Almond Mint
Well what I will say about the product line is that the Sweet Almond Mint gives a great cooling sensation. I found it was pretty good at giving my hair some slip which made detangling my 4b hair easier.
Pricing is high. I won my first batch off of EBAY and bidded on the second 32oz bottle and after I got the first one. I was certian it wasn't a must have product. I could use Lisa Rachel line, which only cost about $9 a bottle in my local BSS or browse around Marshals or TJ Maxx and get it for $4.99. Considering the amount of product you have to use for one cleansing you will be out of WEN in no time. The 16 oz bottle didn't last move than 3 weeks and I wash my hair twice a week. The product is okay but I think I'll stick with the cheap comparison.

I'm trying Wen now. Was CG then went off but noticed a lot more hair loss in shower - big clumps. Guess it comes w/ aging. I've been using Wen for about a month. What I've noticed so far is much, much LESS hair loss, softness, swing. Still looking for my perfect combo. I felt like my hair b4 was very stiff feeling. Always a journey............

My experience with Wen was very disappointing. Most all of the cleansers have menthol (for the "cooling" sensation) but menthol is actually very irritating to skin (the scalp). Also the essential oils, while they smell very nice, are also very strong skin/scalp irritants. THere is absolutely no reason for menthol or essential oils in cleansing products - they do not clean nor do they condition. I don't have "sensitive" skin or scalp. But these irritating ingredients were awful for my hair.
Wen marketing strategy is very strong and very alluring. Don't be fooled. Its all marketing hype.

Thanks to everyone for their helpful opinions! Lots of strong feelings for & against this product.
I'm still tempted, can't deny it, but I'll hold off for now. AG re:coil poo and condish are working really well for me, so I'll ride that wave as long as it lasts.
