anyone use rosemary oil?
I used to use it a long time ago for shine; I wonder if anyone uses it for frizz, or as a sealer?

Rosemary can darken your hair colour.

Rosemary is an essential oil, so it won't serve much use as a sealant. You can try mixing it with a light oil such as jojoba oil and then applying it to your hail to get the benefits of both oils.
HTH!

Rosemary (in general) is great for the scalp and growth stimulation. meaning that it helps with:
Dandruff
dry scalp
any other scalp problems
hair loss
hair roots
dirt and too much oil
hair growth.
ive been using it for over 6 months as a hair growth stimulator. ive made a kind of growth booster, i message it on my scalp every night before bed. cause its so strong you only need a few drops. (also the smell is amazing!) ive mixed it with, half argan and half evening primrose oil, then i add my rosemary, peppermint and Vit E.
ive really noticed that my hair shoots out since ive been using this. also its really relaxing helps with head aches and sleeping as well.
i also add rosemary herb into my hair rinses. i add ACV and message this as well in the scalp.

Rimi, I dont get this; rosemary is an essential oil, and sweet almond oil is not? what determines what oil will have sealing properties??

Correct. Sweet almond oil is a carrier oil (aka base oil).
Carrier Oils are derived from the fatty portion of plants, nuts, seeds and sometimes animals (ex. Emu oil). The matter by which the oils are extracted helps to determine the amount of benefits that you will get out of the oils. Oils that are 'cold-pressed' or 'expeller pressed' are ideal, because these methods leave the oils with the most amount of original nutrients. What makes these oils sealants are their molecular structures, consisting mainly of lipids, which seal moisture into the hair while still providing nourishment.
Essential Oils are derived directly from the petals, leaves, bark, stem and/or roots various plants through a distillation process. Because essential oils are not derived from the fatty portion of plants or animals, they do not have the same sealing or moisturizing power as carrier oils. They do, however have their own separate benefits. It is recommended that essential oils be added to bases like carrier oils or water in order to deliver the benefits to the scalp or skin without causing irritation.
That should clear things up!

Thank you SO much for the comprehensive explanation, Rimi! that is really helpful. I understand now. Not sure I need a sealant, but if I do, it sounds like I should use a light oil; any suggestions?

Haha, glad to help!
Jojoba oil and grapeseed oil are the two oils I can recommend from personal experience. Jojoba oil is definitely the lighter of the two. I've also heard great things about almond oil, sesame oil and avocado oil.

I found grapeseed oil super greasy for my fine hair. I use it to flat iron my hair only. Anyway I really like safflower oil and find it and jojoba to be pretty light.
Back to the topic I use rosemary oil in a distilled water, rosemary, lavendar, peppermint, evoo spritz. I don't like the smell of lavendar--too strong and the rosemary and peppermint cover it well.
