I found "generic" EcoStyler at the 99cent store

Thought I'd share this with you all :)

It's not in the tub/pot like the regular Ecostyler, it's in a large squeeze bottle (which i like because I find that more hygenic), but the bottle says "EcoStyler" so I'm assuming it's still EcoStyler.

I used it yesterday over my FSG and got the same results I get when I use the clear EcoStyler so no problem with the actual product. Nice sticky hold that scrunched out beautifully with no crunch.

They had two different varieties of EcoStyler, 16oz size bottles. One is argan oil, that's the one I got, and the other is olive oil. The bottles aren't clear, they're tan-colored, with red writing or green.

If you're a fan of EcoStyler, and have 99 Cent Stores near you, it might be worth checking out to see if they have any :)

Can you post a pic of the bottle? I saw one like that at Ross but it said it's cream gel. Had a little guy on front with spikey hair. I didn't buy it though. I shoulda. It was $1.99.

Is it the Ecostyler Grip? That's what the bottle sounds like. I had ordered some online because I couldn't find the ingredients list anywhere. It worked the same as any Ecostyler for me: really no hold at all. I believe the ingredients were the same as Ecostyler though so if you can find it for .99 snatch it up.

wow, thanks for this information, I will check for it.:angel10:

Unfortunately, I can't post photos. I don't have a phone that has that capability, and my digital camera is way too much of a hassle to post photos online. That's why I have no photos on facebook, LOL.

Anyway, I think this is the same gel you are both referring to. The bottle says "cream gel" and there is graphic of a guy with spiky hair on it.
Although it says "cream gel" it is not a cream. It's a gel like the regular ecostyler gel in the pot.

Alot of people say they get no hold from EcoStyler but I get hold from it. I use it as I would a hard hold gel and it works the same way for me. It's not as great a hard hold gel for me as my all time favorite, Aussie Instant Freeze, but it's much better than LALSG. I can't like LALSG; it just doesn't work for me.

On a scale of 1 to 10, Aussie is a 9, EcoStyler is a 6.5, and LALSG is a 4.5. :)

I did get great shine from this particular EcoStyler. And that price is so amazing. I'm going to go back and get more now that I know it works well. I actually like it better than the pot of clear EcoStyler.

HTH

Ingredients on the 99c EcoStyler:
Water, carbomer, PVP, VP/VA coplymer, glycerin, cyamaposis tetragonolba(guar) tetra sodium EDTA, triethanolamine, polysorbate 20, argan oil, methyl paraben, propyl paraben, DMDM hydantoin, fragrance.

I like eco style too. Not sure how people can not get hold from it. I got lots of hold from the mixed silk gel. But the eco is much more cost effective. My problem has been finding leave ins that play Well with eco without those pesky white balls. Agh!

Auntie Bubbs 07-02-2012 10:23 PM

I think it definitely does matter what you put under it.

I tried out EcoStyler with LALSG over it and hated that combo. I had a sealer and a LI under that too, and my hair still felt brittle and dry. It looked ok, but I hated the feel. But hold was not a problem.

I guess it just depends on how one is using it. I can use EcoStyler as a hard hold gel, but I am layering it over product that has magnesium sulfate in it, so that could be a factor.

Interestingly, I like the generic EcoStyler that I got from the 99 Cent store more than I do the actual White EcoStyler that I buy at the drug store that costs about $4 a pot.

Is it this? If so, it's not a generic of ecostyler, it's made by the same company. It looks like they have other gels too. The cream gel doesn't have protein like the regular ecostyler. I have a bottle of the Argan and olive ones. I bought mine at Ross. I need to try this out again. I used to really like using ecostyler with FSG.

Auntie Bubbs 07-04-2012 09:01 AM

Yep that's it! So it's still EcoStyler? That's great.
Protein free is even better, and 99 cents a bottle is the best part of all :D

So I'm going to buy a few bottles while I can. If you like EcoStyler, like protein free, and have a 99 Cents Only store near you, I'd say check for it and get it while you can!

Looks like they now have a curly hair line! Probably not as cheap though.

I definitely like the squeeze bottle better than the tub as far as application goes. Today I used a LI, FSG, ecostyler cream gel (Red), gel-les'C. My hair definitely clumps crazily with ecostyler! My hair is still drying but so far it looks great. I can't remember now why I ever stopped using ecostyler!!!
