Default Another accidental discovery!

Today it was with oil and sealing timing.

I was in a bit of a rush today after I showered and forgot to put oil in after my LI to seal.

My usually post-shower routine is LI, oil (usually MO, though not always), then gel, scrunch/wring with a MF towel, apply a little more gel, then plop.

Well, since I forgot the oil today (and didn't realize it until after the scrunch/wring phase) I decided to put it in with my last glop of gel.

I do the scrunch/wring because I apply gel and such onto very wet hair, but my hair holds onto a lot of water (even though it's pretty porous) and I have to pull some water out before plopping or it would NEVER dry.

I put a little extra gel on the bottom half of my hair right before plopping for that extra but of hold, and to replace the product that I scrunched out. Sometimes I have had that stickiness of the gel cause a little frizz or break up the clumps a little bit.

SO, log story short, I added some oil (jojoba) to that second dose of gel. I mixed them together, scrunched it in, and had really nice results! No friz, no stickiness, good hold without a lot of crunch, too!

Will have to keep experimenting with this to see how to best use this trick.

Just thought I'd pass that on!

This is interesting!!!
I can't plop - hair is too short - but I'd be interested to try this technique.

Please post back after you've tried it a few times and let us know the results.

Will do!!!

I have to say today's results are pretty good! We'll see how they hold up later, and how well it holds up overnight!

Btw, I have a short haired friend (about jaw length hair, I guess, with a few layers) and she plops just long enough to get dressed. She does it to keep her hair from getting messed up as she puts on her clothes and such. It's up in the plop for about 5 mins, give or take. She says it helps her curls a lot, but if it's in much longer than that she has problems.
