jojoba oil and scalp
I have been using jojoba oil on my scalp DAILY and it seems to help with not having those white powdery flakes in my hair. But my hairdresser just told me that my breakage is from too much protein. Now I just know that oils all have protein, right? So how can I keep my scalp happy with oils but not have the protein in the oils contribute to breakage??? Thanks, also, anyone know how I can help combat the protein from henna because I do it often. Just more DT?

i dont think that oils have protein in it. im protein sensitive and i use oils every day. i also dont know if henna has any protein in it either might need to check that one out. too much protein isnt just the cause of too much protein, your hair would feel really dry and almost like strew. if your hair is really dry you would just need more moisture.
thats just what i think though.

This probably has less to do with the jojoba oil and more to do with the henna. How often do you henna? Do you use any other products that contain protein?

I do henna once a week just on my sides where I have whites, not the whole head. And I just do roots, not length. I was doing a protein treatment once a week thinking that's what I needed to stop my breakage. I really thought I was lacking protein because my "broken hairs'" all seemed to be stretched before breaking, so I assumed my hair was really stretchy. I studied some of the broken ones and they're not just broken, like, boom, they all are stretched quite a bit and then broken off. Anyone else think that means I need protein?? My hair doesn't feel super dry, just a tad, but I asked my hairdresser what was causing my breakage and he just said it needs more moisture. I don't know if he studied my hair or just gave me a general answer. Still having that breakage.

Do you follow your PTs with a DC or moisturizing conditioner?

I'll be honest. I haven't been. Just because I felt the Curl Junkie Repair me to be so moisturizing. But maybe it isn't enough.

Try following with a moisturizing DT and leave-in and see how your hair reacts!
