This is my question: My hair is very, very fine. All my life, if my hair is very short, it gets pretty wavy. The longer it gets, the straighter, and the more like dandelion fluff. Right now it's about mid-neck, and pretty unmanageable. I've been using no-poo, one condition, and angell for about a month. I try to go by the instructions, and my hair ends up looking like wavy worms. I look at the pictures of the curly girls, and I just don't have that kind of hair!! Help!
Do you take hair supplements? Biotin is great for thickening up the hair.
Do you do protein treatments? These tend to work for most fine-haired people, as they strengthen the hair strand.
How is your hair cut or styled? A straight across cut.look is better suited for finer hair.
Many of us started out with Deva, even thought we liked it and then moved on to products that worked MUCH better. I'd change to something else.
I've always had to rotate my products, even back in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom use any product more then once every five days, it that.
Keep in mind that co is for curly hair. If your hair tends to be straight, even for some 2b's, it may weigh down your hair too much.
You may want to look into no heat curling methods. There's several good youtube videos.
Fine hair tends to like protein. Have you tried a protein treatment?
2c/3a-M-ii porous, good elasticity, APL, dark brown with a silver lining. Biggest enemy: frizz!
Co-washing is not just for curly hair. If you check out the Long Hair Community there's an entire thread for co-washing and there are just as many posters with straight hair as there are with wavy or curly hair. Texture makes more of a difference than curl pattern- people with fine hair (wavy or curly) sometimes cannot co-wash exclusively and may need to rotate in a low-poo. But there are definitely wavies who do co-wash. Ultimately, the key to best enhancing your waves is to find the right balance between moisture and protein, and this can take time (that balance can also shift with changes in weather, etc).
