New haircut! Pics! Didn't run home crying! :)
So I finally had a salon experience-- a haircut and style-- that I am happy with! I did lots of research after 2 really bad experiences, and this stylist used the CG method on me to a T, way more by the book than I even do it. He's not Deva trained, but sure knew what he was doing.
I told him I wanted to keep most of my length in the back, but wanted a nicer shape that would blend my bangs in with the rest of my hair and make my curls bouncy again. He cut some sections together, and then cut individual curls, my hair was dry. Then we went to the shampoo bowl. But he skipped the shampoo completely, yay!
He detangled me with conditioner and after rinsing just a tad, he had me flip my head over and scrunched my hair-- with paper towels!!! My dress got wet under my gown, lol, but no big deal. He sat me under a hooded dryer and then diffused a bit to trim a few pieces, and with conditioner only, these pics are my results, after biking home in awful weather. First pic is before, so you see how long it was.
I am a little freaked out about the length, especially in the front-- it's about 3 inches shorter (dry) in most places. I have not had my hair this short in 20 years. But, I think it will grow out much better now. I'm also going to use gel next time I wet it, since that weighs my curls down a little.
But overall I am so happy! Will be going back to him for color.
ETA: And it was cheap! $65!!

Thank you so much for the compliments, lcl0706!
I just have to get used to seeing myself with shorter hair, I'm surprised when I catch my reflection.
It does feel great to have found someone who knows what they're doing. I'm finally going to write a positive review of a stylist and salon!

1) Hey Subbrock! It is me! When I returned to the site, I couldn't remember my old username so am now Diaspora. Then I found Spiderlashes and she remembered that it was Urbancurl. It's in my sig but from your phone I guess you can't see those. I hope you've been well!
2) Thanks!!

Thank you everyone for your compliments on my hair (and freckles!). I love the support I get here.
I'm excited to style it myself tomorrow and see how it turns out.

Hi diaspora. Looks REALLY good. Can't believe it looked that good out of the salon. I always leave with wet frizzy head, wash at home and restyle. Glad you found someone who knows what to do.
Love the curls, cut and your color!

Thanks, Cuban-curly-E! I was pretty stunned I didn't have to rush home and re-do it.
Today I styled it myself and I like it better. I always like how my hair looks better air-dried, plus I used gel.

Such pretty, thick, shiny hair! Your cut is great! I also liked it long.
