Would this work??

In lieu of applying a store-bought or homemade conditioner, has anyone tried spraying the hair down with water, putting on a plastic cap and just deep conditioning that way? If so, what did you do after removing the cap?

I'm thinking of trying this for mid-week moisture boosts when I have protective styles (like twisted updos), so I don't have to to take them down to re-moisturize everyday. Plus, it'll really help me stretch out my conditioners!

This is called baggying. But I think people use some kind of product? Like maybe a leave in or moisturizer? I don't know. I don't do it. Good luck if you try it

I haven't bagged, but I do find that a deep scalp massage on dry hair can help stretch washes. I massage really well and pull the sebum down onto the hair. I even take the ends and rub them directly on my scalp.

Just a plain water wash can actually dry your hair out, because sebum is made of two parts: oil and wax. If you wash too much with just water, you're rinsing off the oily part of the sebum but the waxy part stays behind. So using a bag is probably a good idea.
