Default AG Hair Cosmetics? Abba?

So there is a sale going on at Ulta where all of the LITER sizes of AG shampoo and conditioner at $14.99!!! That's 70% off! The Abba are that price too, which is still saving 50%.

I can't decide which to get. My dad uses AG and likes it a lot for his curly, dry hair, but Abba is natural and looks great. Should I purchase...

1. AG Curl Activating Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Curl Activating Conditioner
2. AG Fast Food Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Fast Food Leave-On Conditioner
3. Abba Moisture Shampoo and Moisture Conditioner

Thank you for your input!

Default AG Hair Cosmetics? Abba?

I didn't check the AG Fast Food products, but I am pretty sure the AG Curl conditioner has a non-water soluble cone in it (the shampoo might as well but my memory is fuzzy). I don't know if you follow CG or not, so I don't know if this matters (I'm modified CG so I would try it anyway if I heard good things about it).
BTW, how long does the sale last? I might need to check it out myself.

I honestly don't mind cones that much. I researched and found that Fast Food has some lighter cones, so I might lean towards that. Oh! And the sale lasts, I think, until July 21st or 28th.

Has anyone else tried AG?

I have used Fast Food and it didn't do much for me. I've never used Abba Moisture, it has cyclomethicone as the 3rd or 4th ingredient, but if you don't mind that, it does have good reviews around the Internet. I used some other Abba conditioner in the past and liked it.

I was enticed by Ulta's sale to buy the re:coil poo and condish, and used them for the first time this morning. I was also perplexed by the fact that AG would promote the shampoo as "sulfate-free", but then load up the conditioner in the same product line with cones. (I even considered posting about that issue here, but never got around to it.)

So far so good. The poo lathers up well and did not strip my hair, while the condish is super thick with great slip and detangled well. Ulta is giving a free pump with every liter, which is absolutely essential for getting the conditioner out of the bottle. Otherwise, you will be standing in the shower squeezing with both hands to get the viscous cream out!

Ulta also has a printable $3.50 coupon on their website that you can use to make this a super bargain. So you can get $100 worth of shampoo and conditioner for $23 - can't beat that! I'll be picking up another liter of each before the sale ends 7/21.

For reference, here are the ingredients. (If you're looking for natural products, keep moving! I can't pronounce half of these.)

Shampoo:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Ammonium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Cocamidopropylamine Oxide, Cocamidopropyl Betaineamide Mea Chloride, PEG/PPG-120/10-Trimethylopropane Trioleat, Lauret-2, Acrylates/PEG-10 Maleate/Styrene Copolymer, Polyquaternium-47, Cinnamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, Polyurethane-14, Ampacrilates Copolymer, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Amino Acids, Stearoyl Coadesaturase(SCD-1), Lactobacillus Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Ferment Extract, Keratin Amino Acids, Dimethicone PEG-8 Meadowfomate, Hydrolyzed Oats, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Wheat Starch, Acetamide Mea, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Hyaluronic Acid, Linoleic Acid, Linolenic Acid, Sorbitol, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis(Jojoba) Seed Oil, Thocopherol, Sulfur, Sodium Pca, Tetrasodium Edta, Citric Acid, Parfum/Fragrance, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone.

Conditioner
Water/Aqua/Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Quaternium 91, Cetrimonium Methosulfate, Polysorbate 60, Cetrimonium Chloride, Bisisobutyl PEG/PPG-20/35/Amodimethicone Copolymer, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Polysorbate 80, Butylene Glycol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Acyl Coenzyme A Desaturase, Lactobacillus/ Tomato Fruit Ferment Extract, Keratin Amino Acids, Polyurethane-14, Ampacrilates Copolymer, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Lauryl Alcohol, Panthenol, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin, Citric Acid, Silk Amino Acids, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexyl Ethoxycinnamate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Parfum/Fragrance

Does anyone know if Ulta carries the Abba Pure Finish Gel? I am sort of liking this when I want a change from my usuals, and a new Ulta opened very close to my house.

I had amazing results with AG Re:coil shampoo and conditioner, I used it for a year after picking it up on the liter sale and it helped define my curl while keeping my hair soft and moisturized. I have no clue why the shampoo would be so perfect yet the conditioner have cones...it doesn't make sense. I switched away from it because of the conditioner but now I'm considering mix and matching the re:coil shampoo with a biolage conditioner without cones. Not sure yet.

FYI: Beauty Brands (Beauty Brands: Beauty, Skincare, Makeup, Hair, Nails, Salon and Spa) is also having their liter sale which has a lot more variety on products offered at $13.98 a liter.

AG re:coil is actually $12.98 at Beauty Brands, and they also accept Ulta coupons (though I think that's in-store only), so BB's deal is even better. No Beauty Brands in FL, unfortunately, but shipping is free with a $50 purchase.

Actually, I will probably end up getting Fast Food Leave-On because the Re:Coil Conditioner has cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone, which are bad? I think...

Anyway, the Fast Food has a water soluble dimethicone, amodimethicone, and phenyl trimethicone...which I heard don't have as many harmful effects.

Yes, I highly recommend it! I used the re:coil shampoo & conditioner again today, and my results were even better than yesterday. Dramatic reduction in frizz, more shine, good amount of volume. I saw an improvement in curl definition but not enhancement, if that makes sense.

A little goes a long way with the shampoo, so be careful not to pump too much like I did : )

Me too! Haha.

What are you purchasing?

I'll be getting the curl activator stuff. I use CHS Treatment Shampoo weekly before my PT so the cones aren't an issue. I also use cleansing conditioners with coco betaine.

Nothing thus far, but the poo has some pretty strong cleansers, and this is the first conditioner I've used in months that has any cones. So in a sense I was starting with virgin hair. If there's any buildup or other nasty effects from the cones over time, I'll let you know.

I just like the way my hair feels with these products, which is more than I can say for the myriad of other things I've tried. And I'm getting looks (you know, THOSE kind of looks) for a change, even with no makeup and an 11-year-old in tow.

But I don't want to jinx anything, so I'm not putting the re:coil into my signature just yet : )

ETA: I just swapped for the Darcy's cleansing conditioner a couple of days ago, which I see in your siggy. I plan to alternate the AG with the Darcy's to keep my hair moisturized, maybe every 4th wash or so. The cleansing conditioners are too heavy for me to use daily, but I do prefer more natural products whenever possible. Hopefully this regimen will provide that balance.

I have the Abba moisture shampoo and conditioner. The conditioner has cones and makes my hair frizzy - I would not recommend that. But the shampoo! Oh, the shampoo. I only use it ~1x per week, but it's great. It smells wonderful, and it feels so nice on my scalp! I bought an ~8 oz bottle and it was almost $13, so this is an amazing deal you've found. I go through it so slowly I probably won't get more, but if you're curious to try it, you should!

Thanks again for the responses!
I still cannot decide on what to get...
The Abba Shampoo looks great, and the AG Fast Food Leave-in looks good too! Maybe I'll get that combo? I basically need a shampoo that will clean without stripping and that I can use daily. I need a conditioner that won't give me gross build-up, too! Decisions, decisions.
