Default Salicylic acid in shampoo- good or bad?

Biolage Hydrating shampoo's ingredients have changed. Among other new ingredients, there's now salicylic acid in it. Is that a "good" or bad" ingredient?

It's an exfoliant ingredient - basically, aspirin - to help turn over skin cells on the scalp. Good for the scalp, not bad for hair - in fact, probably good for hair in the long run since the scalp is healthier and follicles less likely to become blocked from built-up skin cells.

It's the main ingredient in a lot of acne products. I would think it'd be fine as long as you don't use it every day.
