Hi,

So this is my second post, i've watched clips, read articles around the CG method of hair care.

I currently don't use any products on my hair other than shampoo & conditioner.

I was always lead to believe that using lots of products in your hair was bad for it, but on most peoples signatures there is a long list of things they use every time they wash.

I don't get it, do i have to use lots of products to get pretty curls?

Can't i just wash, condition and go??

Actually, a lot of curlies do just that, but leave some conditioner in (conditioner only styling). Also, a lot of us list our favorite products in our signature, but we don't use every product each time we wash/style. I prefer a wash n go (no heat styling), and my normal routine is wash, RO, LI, sealer/styler. The point of CG is to only use products on your hair that add moisture (as our hair tends to be dry) but don't cause build up - hence no silicones. And then no harsh surfactants (like sulfates) that will strip the moisture from your hair. Your routine can be as simple or complicated as you like it - just depends on what your hair needs. If just washing and RO is working for you, that's awesome.

My favorite brands are Curl Junkie, Darcy's Botanicals, As I Am, Curly Kinks and Shea Moisture. Also love sealing with oil and styling with jelly products.

I never used products until I started lurking on nc.com about five years ago. My hair went from winter wavy/summer 3a to looking like my signature picture every day all year around.

It really depends on what you want. I like the fact that I get a lot of compliments and am frequently asked where I get my hair cut when I meet new people.

My daily routine can be any of the following:

1.Wet (dampen to "towel dry"), fluff, go,
1a.wet, fluff, heat protectant (for our 100+ temps), go,
2.wet, leave-in, fluff, go,
2a.wet, leave-in, heat protectant, fluff, go
3.wash (water, co, or (low)poo), RO, leave-in, go,
3a.wash, RO, leave-in, heat protectant, go
4.wash, RO, leave-in, styler (gel, curl cream, or mousse), go,
4a.wash, RO, leave-in, styler, heat protectant, go,
5.wash, RO, leave-in, sealer (oil), curl enhancer, styler, go,
5a.wash, RO, leave-in, sealer (oil), curl enhancer, styler, heat protectant, go.

It all depends on: my mood, my hair, my plans for the day, the weather, and whether I'm experimenting or not. When I find products, routine, whatever that gives me moderately reproducible results, I may settle into a standard routine, but there will likely still be daily change ups for the above reasons.

Edit:Oops! I forgot to mention that other than options 1 and 2, all daily routines include scrunching.

Experimenting with too many products to name here. All this great info keeps my head spinning.
