gunky white stuff on my scalp but not flaky

i have this gunky white with yellow tint oily, stuff on my scalp that gets underneath my fingernails when i scratch my head. i wash my scalp with jessicurl hcc and activate shampoo. why is my scalp so nasty?
Do you scrub your scalp?
I've seen a yellowy buildup on babies who hate their hair washed sometimes.
Conditioner I know will buildup on the scalp if not scrubbed off. Maybe oils are the same way I'm not sure.
2c/3a?
Low porosity, medium texture.

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!
i scrub with my fingers, but i have so much hair its hard to get to my scalp.
I get this too, sometimes.

I think it's either dry scalp with eczema OR product build-up. Or maybe it's a combination of both?
3C/4A and too long to handle (and afford!)
i just can't get this to go away and i don't know what products to use and stay cg but still get my scalp back to normal?
There was a post on this on the going shampooless forum a while back. It had something to do with the emulsifiers in your condish bonding with the oil on your scalp I think. Anyway, I sometimes get this stuff too.

can you just do some sort of scalp scrub? Like the brown sugar one, or maybe baking soda. When I get this, it doesn't usually come off with just my fingers unless I scrub real hard for a while, but a scrub usually works.

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

As embudini said, I get this (I think) from the reaction of products to the oils on my scalp. If I scratch my head during the day, no white gunk. But after applying some products (Jessicurl GLS in particular), I get the gunk.
2c who can't seem to find enough moisture! Trying to figure this out once and for all 7 years after going CG!
Sonny and allie do ya'll have soft water?
I get some white umm dunno what it is when my hair is wet. I never see it when dry. It is like somethign coming off my scalp but I don't flake and never have. I get it if I use anything that suds.
I notice it when I'm putting on my leave in and my gel, I flip my hair up and sometimes I'll see a bit of it that's come loose about an inch into my hair.
I've been avoiding anything that suds like the plague lately. I know I have soft water so the cleanser bonds and it's hard to get out. Pain in my butt but I have to say my hair is shinier and curlier for using co washes and no poo only lately.

Just a thought, and I had forgotten to ask before

Neutrogena T/Sal is great for this. It doesn't have SLS, and you don't have to use it everyday. I use it twice a week, but I bet you could do once a week.

Hair is pretty great now that it's colder, now I'm focusing on my skin. Sniffle.
