Default How often do you rotate your products?

Many members list multiple products in their Bio/Signatures. So, I think itís safe to assume they do not use the same products every day. Iím on my third week of CG and Iím still experimenting, but have not gone crazy buying products (Not Yet anyway ). I have pretty much been using the same products for the duration. But I have definitely noticed that my hair has progressively gotten less curly/wavy and flat despite doing ACV rinses and DTs. So, I think I definitely need to switch it up. But I wonder how often does one do that?

SOÖWhat do you do? How often do you switch up your products in your regimen? Does weather play a huge role? Do you switch it up to get different results? Are you able to switch it up with consistent results? Or have you been totally blessed and found your ultimate HGs and can stick to them everyday with consistent results?

These questions also refer to poos and conditioners, as well as treatments.

I change it up quite a bit... my hair gets "tired" of the same products day after day and stops responding well to something I use too often.

Anyone else see this same thing?

Ideally I do rotate products often (I change up products almost daily). Right now I don't rotate as much as normal, but that's because my main focus is getting my stash back under control.

I hardly ever rotate products. If I want to try something new, I end up switching back and forth between old products and new products until one or the other is used up, but in general, I use the same poo, treatments, and stylers (with some minor variations depending on season) day in and day out with no problem.

If your hair is getting less wavy/curly and flat, it may not be due to a need to rotate products - you may have overlooked a 'cone in one of your products or need to PT as well as DT. Also, ACV rinses don't always get rid of all ingredients that build up.

I'm a good speller! My iPhone keyboard? Not so much.

I have noticed that over the long term, my hair does seem to get tired of using just the same product over and over again, but I don't feel the need to rotate products every day. It usually depends on the weather and what I feel like my hair needs. For example, if my hair is feeling dry, I might use a more moisturizing RO, or if my hair is feeling a little limp I'll use products with more protein. When the dews are low, I avoid using stuff with too many humectants, but during the summer I don't have that issue. I mainly just focus on keeping a good protein/moisture balance and tweek my products accordingly. I have a lot of different products I'm still experimently with, but once I've established my favorites, I will start eliminating stuff from my stash.
2c/3a, botticelli/wavy/'swavy (huh?)
fine, dense, normal porosity/elasticity, dry climate

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

During the first six weeks or so of trying CG, I bought a lot of different products I saw recommended here. I wound up with 7-10 lines of great products in baskets in my closet, so I just grab a basket on days when I wash my hair (every 3-5 days) and use that line that day. So I rotate as much out of necessity as any "plan" I might have had.

Experimenting with too many products to name here. All this great info keeps my head spinning.

I almost exclusively use Jessicurl GLS as my low poo. I occasionally rotate in the Jessicurl HCC but that is just if I've been low pooing a lot.

Otherwise I switch up my conditioner every few showers. I haven't been styling my hair much lately since it's been crazy hot. I used to switch my styling products almost every day.

Thanks so much for the responses. I just picked up AG recoil and deva arc angel and am going to rotate those in with my current products.

I fought against buying a bunch of products for a long time. I finally caved and bought a couple of new products, and realized how differently my hair reacted to different ingredients. You can't really know until you try, but I would also say you don't have to try everything under the sun. I now have 2-3 each of low-poos, conditioners, curl enhancers, and gels that I rotate between. Not only does it make it a little more fun to 'experiment' each day, but my hair seems to do a lot better when it doesn't see the same thing every day.

Same here. I rotate products like I change styles. I use 2 systems: Shea Moisture and Curls Unleashed. Every week or so, I'll switch or cocktail them, depending on what look I'm trying to achieve.

My hair has always satiated on product--even back in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom use any one product more then once in five days, if that.

I switch up often and for several reasons. Weather, desired look and how long I want the style to last. As far as treatments I give my hair what it needs when it needs it, ie protein, moisture or too much shedding.

I switch when my products stop working. I took my locs down over a year ago and I've changed my shampoo & conditioner because they were making my hair fall out too much. I've stopped using 1 product because I don't need it. I've been using the same styler the whole time. Once I find what works I usually don't switch up.

I generally use the same shampoo until it's gone. I do pretty much same with conditioner.
Styling products, I have a few going at a given time and I may use the same ones a few times and then switch to another. No particular plan to it. I just buy quality product when I see them for a good price and switch them up.

I rotate my products every day. By rotating the products, they don't stop working for me. Before I rotated my products, they would eventually stop working. By rotating, my fav products continue to work.

I do switch things up a little when the summer dewpoints arrive.

I cowash every other day and then wash my hair with a sulfate free shampoo. for products i use one moose for when its hot and after i wash my hair because my hair get big after i wash it. for days i cowash, i use a different moose. its more conditioning but it doesnt have a big hold in the heat much. So I use that for cowash days because the leave ins and cowash kinda weigh my hair down a little. I dont need much moose.

I generally keep my shower routine the same (load up on protein), but my stylers change almost every time I do my hair. I like trying different combinations and stylers give me the biggest difference in how my hair can look.
