Hair gels... good ones...?

I need to know of any good gels out there, that wont dry up my hair as much. At least something thats a little healthy, and wont damage it.

I tried not using gel before, and using creams, but it makes my hair too fluffy, i like my hair to be extremely defined, and perfect 24/7 lol.

If any1 could help, i will extremely appreciate it...

Thanks...
I really like the new Herbal Essences gels. Totally Twisted is a medium-hold gel, but if you want a strong hold, Body Envy or Set Me Up would be good. They are very resistant to humidity. And, cheap!
Suave smoothing antifrizz gel with aloe extract, super cheap and it doesn't dry my hair out.
I second Totally twisted, good stuff
Aussie Tizz no Frizz is good too but lighter hold than the other two. Good frizz control though and it didn't dry out my hair.

All of these can usually be found at walmart, local grocery stores or drugstores

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!
I'm a HUGE fan of Angell, it makes my hair feel so soft!
2b (a fine 'n porous wavy)...and finally growing out :-)

Wash: Deva Low-poo
Condish and leave in: OneC or Suave Coconut

Styler: Angell or the Deva foam, sometimes KKKC

Etc: Set It Free as a refresher

Protien: Looking for one

I love hairspray...don't judge
I am really loving the Herbal Essences Set Me Up gel. It's the best drug-store gel I've ever used. Whenever I use it I get nice defined, clumpy curls and good body. It's the only drug-store one I've had any luck with and it's cheap! The other gels that are HG for me are Batia & Aleeza bio-mineral gel from CurlMart, Abba Weightless gel (found at Trade Secrets, Beauty Express, Beauty Brands, etc), and in the summer my hair likes Angell.

I really like the Lock and Twist gel by Organic Root Stimulator. It's found in the ethnic haircare. I like it because the ingredients are minimal and seem to be moisturizing... or at least not drying.

I will have to second the Lock and Twist! That is a good one. I'm glad you mentioned it. I have a partial tub that I should dig out and get some use out of!

I actually bought some Herbal Essences Set Me Up gel weeks ago and used it for the first time today. I have to say, I was impressed with the hold and definition I got from it. I only used like two nickels worth, too. Cheap gel is a good thing.

I also, however, love Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee. Not so cheap, but my hair is one of those things I don't mind spending on. I get great hold from it - sometimes crunchy, but I can scrunch it out. And I don't need to use too much. I'm looking forward to trying it out in the humidity in upstate NY over the summer. (Well, not the humidity part, but I think it'll perform well!)
Thanks everybody! I will be tryin out each gel listed lol. Yea when it comes to my hair i don't mind spending a little extra on it. It took me years, to actually start loving my curls. When i turned 20, thats when i realized how much i love curly hair...and im 21 now.
For what you've described, I would definitely second the recommendation for Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee. Also, using a leave-in conditioner under your gel will help prevent your hair from drying out.

The only gel that i love ( my HG ) and always go back to is Suave Sculpting freeze gel #10 , has alot of hold factor and crunch but i scrunch it out and get great defined clumpy curls with no frizz all the time, plus it doesnt dry my hair out or flake either . u can also try any of the LA bella gels.. a while back i tryed two of the bella gels and so far they were good , i still do have two big bottles left of the max hold and the lots of curls bella gel but went back to using suave gel. most likely pass the bella gels onto my nieces

I'm not sure why I want to try this stuff. I have a feeling it's gonna be too heavy for my hair. Still, the coconut milk in it intrigues me.

I absolutely am loving Back to Basics Curl Enhancing Gel. Has great hold, controls frizz and the definition lasts all day! Definitely ups the clumpiness factor too,

Brio, the coconut milk in L&T is what got me to buy it as well. But after two tries and the same stringy results each time, I finally returned it. Most products I will try at least 3 times before deciding but between this and the CoN shampoo, neither one made it that far. Hopefully it will work better for you if you try it!

And tooj, you need to stop talking about that gel because I keep picking it up and putting it back before buying it.

Biosilk's RHG worked extremely well for me even in 100% humidity (I live in Hawaii). It defined my curls very well with almost no frizz. I've got pics of my hair after using it in the Jan. folder on my Fotki if you want to see .
