I am new to the CG and i am about to buy some products.
I have 3a, fine hair. My scalp doesn't get oily at all(this is the 5th day i haven't washed my hair and it doesn't look greasy at all!). So i guess i can make it with no poo! I don't know what to choose devacare or devacurl? What's the difference between them?
I also need a lot of moisture since my scalp doesn't produce enough sebum.
By the way my curls look awesome! The 5th day without washing and they are better than the first day! I guess my hair hates shampoo. My curls are showing up on the canopy of my hair..they aren't frizzy anyore.
I also thought that instead of a hair gel i need a hair mousse to add some volume. But something without silicones of course. No humectants and a lots of emolients!
Anything to suggest?
Hello and welcome! I wish I could give you more information, but the only thing I know about the Deva products is that one of the lines is for hair that's been colored and one is for everything else. If you check in the products section, you'll see much more information and reviews.

I love the Deva No Poo. If you have a chance, post back and tell us which products you like best. I hope other curlies chime in with better information.
2/c-3a Coarse hair med. density.
Highly porous. Color over grey.
I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....
Every day is a gift
DevaCare is supposed to be designed for color treated hair. I've used both and I definitely prefer DevaCare. The No-Poo has coco betaine listed higher in the ingredient list (DevaCurl No-Poo has it listed down near the preservatives but DevaCare has it listed up with the other cleansers), so it's effective for dealing with the occasional intentional or accidental silicone product use. I also find the DevaCare One C doesn't leave my hair feeling gunky the way that the DevaCurl version does.

I also have fine 3a hair and I still use gel most of the time. Where some people will go for clumpy gels like Eco Styler I find that my curls do better with thinner consistency gels- Biotera, AG Liquid Effects, Curly Sexy Hair Liquid Curling Gel. If I'm air drying (which is most of the time) I can even get away with spray gel (currently experimenting with LAL Beachy Mega Waves).

When I do use mousse, my HG is TIGI Curlesque Strong Mousse. Good hold, good curl definition.

The best way to determine what ingredients/products will work for you is to know your hair properties. Here's a link to help you with yours. Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics Once you know your properties look for folks with hair like yours and see what they use (in signature.) It's the best place to start.

Many of us start with Deva, think we like it and then move on to other things. My salon has the Deva products; however I bring my own. Once they changed the ingredients a few years ago, I found the NoPoo very drying. (At that point, it was the only product I let them use.)

I've used products in both lines. Don't really remember much difference. If you really want to try them--buy the sample set.

curlypearl: thanks! I really like the site and the forum!

Corrina777: Well my hair has been coloured before but now i want to grow it natural. My roots are 3 inches. Last time i coloured was in June..and of course i coloured the hair below the roots. So i will start with DevaCare line I currently use some aloe vera gel and i get good results. Although i don't like the ''wet'' style i get. If i don't put a certain amount my hair is going to be frizzy. Does this means i have to try other gels? Btw what do you do for your hair to dry faster? I also air dry and it takes forever..3 hours to dry completely.

I will post again of course once i establish my routine with the DevaCare products to show you my progress.. Although i use some cheap products with not so good igredients i 've begin to get awesome compliments about my curls.. Yeah curl power!
