how to diffuse properly
Hi there, I know it sounds like a really dump question to ask, but I have been out today and bought myself a new hairdryer with diffuser as its very cold in the mornings and I dont like going out with damp hair, anyway, I just wanted to know how to diffues properly, do you hold the bowl right up to your head and get those little prongs right into the curls or do you hold the bowl away from your head? I have short wavy/curly hair( half way between ear and jaw) and i havent shampooed my hair in THREE WEEKS!!!! woohoo, Im pretty sure that my hair has gotten more curlier too..is this possible??? anyway, any help woudl be appreciated...gillx oh and I got a lovely compliment from a woman who I hadnt seen in absolutely ages, she said my hair is gorgeous and is it natural? when I said yes she said she was well jealous as her hair was just lank and flat!!!! woohoo to curly hair!!!!!!!!

Hi there and welcome! Yes it is doing without the shampoo that is making your hair curlier. That's the beauty of following Lorraine's guidelines - even if you go modified or just adapt some principles depending on what works for you and your hair - that helps those hidden curls to come alive.
As for diffusing, there's a method on here known as the Pixiecurl Method which is putting your hair in the bowl, putting it up to your head, then turning on the drier. Turn it off, move the bowl to another area and repeat. This helps cut down or eliminate frizz.
But basically, yes, just put the bowl up to your head (I do a count to about 15-30) then move around your head.
You can also diffuse for a few minutes then air dry, or vice versa, or diffuse to dry. Diffusing helps give added volume if you need it, too.
Congrats on finding your inner curl and don't hesitate to ask questions!

check out the Jessicurl website videos. I diffuse similarly to how Jess demonstrates.

just thought i would mention what i discovered last night when i diffused, well when i air dry my hair, my hair is a lot more curlier than when i diffuse, diffusing gives me more relaxed curls/waves, both looks are great, but i think i will be airdrying as much as i can and then only diffuse when its cold and damp outside, anywaythose are my findings.
[b]BRIO your hair is gorgeous, i think that looking at your earlier hair mine is about the same length maybe a bit longer and more wavy/curly, i came to the decision of growing my hair long.

thank you.
I'm trying to grow mine out, too. I'm not sure how much longer I want to go, but I do want my shortest layer to get a bit longer. I'd like to get it at least long enough where I can put it all in a low pony tail. It's close to that now. After that, I'll probably cut it shorter, but I'll have to wait & see!
