How To Use Aloe Vera Gel?

I've seen a lot of people mention Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel, and I bought some the other day but then realized I'm not sure how to use it! I tried mixing it in the palm of my hand with some leave-in (the whole solution turned clumpy and was hard to distribute!) so then last night I put in my leave in and then the AVG, but I'm not sure how much to use! I've seen some people say they water it down and use it as a refreshing spray, and I've seen some people say they use a TON of it at one time. Are there any recommendations? I can usually tell by how my hair feels if I should use some more leave in or gel, but the AVG makes my hair feel weird (almost like it gets instantly dry when I apply it, so I can't tell just by finger combing if that means I have too much or too little!) And I haven't been using any gel for the last few days (just to see what happens!) but if I did, do people usually apply the AVG before, after, or mix it together?

So as you can see, I'm quite confused I'd love to hear from anyone who has used it, and what they found worked best for them! Thanks so much!
Hello! I bought AVG last summer when I was doing some micro mini twists in my hair. Besides that I barely touched the product till more recently. I've never been a fan of gels. Anywho I recently started using it as a base for creating my own styling cremes ( I ran out of all my go products like Knot Today, curl smoothie, aloe Vera juice, and ILoveMyFRos's Shea whip) so I used that with some oils that I still had in stock and a curling creme that I never cared much for and the results were great! I think the key to using AVG is all base on the results your looking for. AVG is ph balanced so its great for curly looks because it'll help bring out your natural curl pattern. But if you're a 4b or 4c like me and you're looking for something to provide a smooth hold for a dry or stretched style it's not necessarily the most reliable product.
When I first tried AVG, I applied it directly to my hair like I would a regular gel. It made my hair feel funky and dry. I tried adding it to my homemade FSG and still didn't like the results. The bottle made its way to the back of my closet for a long time until I read about a few curlies who put it in a spray bottle with water and used it as a refresher. I'll try anything folks here rave about so I dug out the bottle and put about 1/4 AVG to 3/4 water in a mister. Love! I use it in the morning after taking down my pineapple and frequently use it mid-day to revive and refresh my curls. It's my go-to product when I need to style or re-style dry hair.

So sorry it didn't work for you.

My hair doesn't mind aloe IN things, as an ingredient, but it doesn't like it alone on my hair. (I've never tried the diluted spray, though, but I can't picture my hair liking that.)

I don't know what that says specifically, but I can tell you my hair is porous, and I have always wondered if that way part of it.
