Hey HEY! I need advice! I wear my hair three ways: up, down, and in pooftails...but I am having a wedding soon and id like my hair to be fancy and cute... Its so damaged from all the hair dying that straightening it is not really an option. =) my hair has a mind of its own and does what it wants most days. Any advice or comments are welcome. Also if you know how to make it actually straighten despite the damage please share. I think I have between 3b and 3c hair... Thanks! here are some shots of my curlydooo in my album:

btw HELLO! my name is Star Rose..nice too meet fellow curly heads!! <3
I can't offer any advice on straightening, having never done it myself, but I can recommend a haircut. It looks like your hair is pretty short, but it would probably be good to get a nice trim to clear out split ends and breakage. If you don't want to cut it, I would at least do some deep treatments and make sure you aren't using any sulfates to style your hair. If you know a good stylist, maybe you could arrange an appointment to have them help you with your hair and discuss possible ways for you to wear it at your wedding. You could always try braids if you don't feel comfortable with how your hair is looking close to the wedding. Good luck, and congratulations!

I use John Freida 3-day straight for my daughter's hair. It helps minimize damage when straightening.

Here are pics of it curly and straight.

Hi cherry blossom! i have been to a hair stylist once when i was a teenager, she straightened my hair and put weave in it, so i could look pretty i guess ...it was because i was the freshman princess in high school. at that time..i used to relax my hair because my curls were so nuts it was just BIG and round! everyone i knew had calm curls or straight here and i didnt understand my hair yet...after i took that weave out which was gross and glued to my head..i decided to embrace my curls and go natural with my hair, but unnatural with my hair color and ever since that moment.. i cut my bangs myself and my hair myself... i also deep condition and hot oil treat it once every two months. i have not let anyone touch my hair since i was 14 and i am thirty now.. maybe its time!! thanks for the advice!! =)

thank you!

Yes I blow dry with a round brush and flat iron. She ponytails it at night with a silk bonnet and it actually stays straight up to a week. Could probably go longer but I don't want her to. :-) I am just now getting her to embrace her curls. She is 11.

Here is the front straightened.

Thank you. We had issues with girls calling her hair poofy. Plus everyone around her had straight hair. This is why I chopped off my hair so she would have someone to relate to hair-wise. It has worked. :-)

Here is her hair right after washing.

Definitely it's a good idea to wear your hair curly, if you can't be yourself on your wedding day, when can you? I have actually been thinking about this a whole lot lately because I have big 3b hair and have been asked to be a bridesmaid. I've pinned a lot of naturally curly hair 'dos and tutorials on Pinterest, many which don't even apply to my hair type.
you might try this one, or try doing something similar but using bendy rods or curlformers for more perfect ringlets:

And this lady had an outdoor wedding with short curly hair, no veil, just some butterflies perched on the side of her head : Gracie + Dave's Vintage Picnic Real Wedding | Green Wedding Shoes Wedding Blog | Wedding Trends for Stylish + Creative Brides
and I don't have a specific photo in mind but I would add that braids are all over the place this year and can look very romantical and keep the hair under control.
I get so exited when I find a tutorial for curly hair that is on legit curly hair, not heat-curled hair. Yet we've got to realize that curly hair just naturally looks fancy and girly. I put my second-day hair in a ponytail today and got a comment from a girl at the Rite Aid, who was just thoroughly impressed with my "updo". Your hair is so bright and colorful, it will definitely look fancy and prettyful and romantical with some ribbons or flowers or accent braids, or whatever you end up doing. Good luck!

So far I just have my profile photo out here on this site. which is a picture of how I'd style my hair when it was shorter. I used to style my hair after I washed it by working in sections and wrapping each little damp clump around my finger from root to tip, using some diluted L.A. Looks gel. I'd do that once or twice a week and sleep in a satin bonnet in between washing. Then my sister said I looked kind of like Shirley Temple so I stopped doing the oh-so perfect spirals.
