I kind of like it when someone asks me how I get my hair like this, and I reply "leave-in and gel". Their amazed look makes me laugh.
I love how my hair coils up. Some places curl some coil but they all have pretty insane spring factors. When I went curly in college, I hated shrinkage. Now I love it. Boi-oing-oing lol. The 2 or 3 times I blew out my hair straight it was amazing at how much hair I really have.
I love being able to wash n go everyday (if I want to). With relaxed hair, I had to blow dry and flat iron before I could do anything else or else I looked like a wet rat . Now I can air dry and look good doing it!

I enjoy the variety and just being different than most people around me :-) it is way easier than trying to make it something it is not too. I had a friend tell me once when asked if he liked my hair curly or straight better, he said curly because it suits my personality better (bubbly and fun). I never forgot, but on truly embraced my curls 100% about a year and a half ago.

I am a small woman, and I think it suits my personality and style. I think I look like little gypsy woman. Also, as I age, I realize that long curls are very flattering, unique, and take years off my face.

The longer hair gets the better it looks.
Braids don't unravel as likely.
You can skip shampooing and still have a clean scalp.
When it gets wet at the swimming pool it looks alsome and not flat/limp.

I love that we have a natural gift that you can't get through any means. Hot rollers, curling rods, curling irons...none of those things compare to natural curls. I feel blessed when I think about my hair (even if I do wish that I could tame it sometimes!). Curly hair is perfectly imperfect.

Had to revisit this - I was having a blah day 2 hair day today (limp and droopy) so I did a couple braids and pulled it into a side pony. I hate the way hair bands look, so I took a section of hair, wrapped it around the hair band, and secured it with a bobby pin. I just took the section out (getting ready to do a DT) and it is this big, shiny, bouncy curl that looks like I used a hot roller or large barrel curling iron. I love that about curly hair - no heat necessary, and such versatility.

This!
Also, I love that if I want to change it up, it's very easy to do. IF I want to wear it straight temporarily I CAN, although it's only about twice a year at most. I also am learning to love shrinkage on me!

My answer is going to be different because from a guy's perspective, I still have more hair than a lot of 40 year old guys. It took me seeing other guys my age losing their to appreciate having curly locks.

I remember this happening ages ago when I still chemically straightened my hair. It was very, very frustrating I could never get it completely straight (always had a weird wave or two), AND curling irons created only temporary curls when I tried to curl it. My hair looked awful.
Agree with you about all the different types of curls. I love that you can find different curl patterns on the same head, too. Honestly, I'm just in love with the way curls look all along the spectrum. Sometimes I stare at someone's curly hair - anyone's really, even my own at times - and think, "Wow, I can't believe something with that shape actually grows out of a scalp!" Straight hair just does not have an awe factor like that, for me.

+1 - when I see a head of curls, I instantly think "wow, they look really striking", because curly hair is individual and different and can really stand out in a crowd!

Wow I'm really glad so many people like this thread! Sometimes it's easy to forget how awesome our curls are, especially when we live in a society that makes them out to be a bad thing. +1 to everyone who commented on the wildness, I always get complimented on my "mane" I love how sexy and fun curls look when I fluff them out and how much they change day to day. Another big bonus for me is being able to a updo etc and not having all of my hair slip out the way it does with straight hair! Keep the curl love coming

There are so many things, but I have to say my favorite is when I'm at the beach and I get my hair wet and all of my friends proceed to look like drowned rats for the rest of the day, but I just scrunch with the sea water and my hair looks flawless when it dries
