Default Help me!

I need some some help! After weeks of creeping threads, searching and going crazy.....

I am 2b/2c, fine, high density, low porosity. I use Wen CC, argan oil, garnier pure clean smoothing cream and when needed wen replenishing spray.
I've tried air drying, plopping, diffusing, supersoaker method, etc.

I still have horrible canopy fly aways, tangles within hours, spots that are sometimes curly and sometimes decide to go straight, and of course horrible second day hair.

Can someone (same hair type?) give me some tips? Products, methods?

TIA

Jennyrenae, try posting in the 2 forum, since you will likely get some responses from people with a similar hair type. I hope you get some answers.

Hair type is transient, so I don't think this is a bad place to start. When I was first on nc.com, I didn't use products. My hair was winter wavy/summer 3a. Now it looks like my signature picture all year around. Because, I learned how to use products and technique here.

My hair is fine/low porosity, but no longer dense (age, thyroid and a medication I take has thinned it out.)

I can't use gel. My hair doesn't like the chemicals, especially polyquats. I got halo frizz even when wet. While Curl Chemist inferred that it wasn't build up, it requires a sulfate shampoo to remove it (whatever it is.) My hair prefers the more natural products from the online, boutique type companies. I rotate products because my hair has always satiated. Even back in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom let myself use any one product more then once in five days.

i am not familiar with the ingredients in wen products, but it's possible the ones you use have cones in them, would need a low poo to remove.. not many people here use wen so i can't say whether wen would be good for your hair or not.

it's really a matter of trial and error. you have to read and try to see if products that are mentioned might be good for your hair. start also by looking at signatures, find someone with similar hair properties and see what they are using.

If you're tried changing your techniques, it's probably your products. I heard the Wen products have silicones so you might want to drop those. I've also heard not so good reviews about the GF Smoothing Cream as well.

Do a final sulfate wash and get a few other cheap products. Cowash/rinse out/leave-in can be cheap products like Suave Naturals, V05 and Tresemme Naturals. If you want a little more expensive, Yes to Cucumbers/Carrots.

You might also be able to use Shea Moisture products. They are heavy for some but if you might be able to use small amounts.

For styling, get cheap gels like LALSG, Aussie Instant Freeze, Ecostyler Krystal. I really like BRHG as a hard hold gel and I like to mix it with my other gels.

Like kathymack, I mostly prefer the online companies like Curl Junkie and Spiral Solutions. If you decide to go that route, you can order samples from her. Here is a link to all the samples she has:
Public Home | Kathymack | Fotki.com, photo and video sharing made easy.

The online stuff is more expensive but IMHO it's higher quality. I do use a few drugstore products but after much trial and error, have settled on several products my hair really likes! Good luck!

i am going through similar problem,..after using wen for few years, once going cg i started out with cheaper conditioners like suave, vo5, tresemme= suave itched me to the point of no return still trying to recover, none of them seem to work for me, which i thought would be the case because i can never get lucky with cheap products, anyone feels my pain? ....so i am starting to try cj products due to great reviews, just got a dt and have smoothing conditioner on its way, so my question: which conditioner out of CJ line is good for co-washing not just rinse out and li? really looking for your input. (btw- i think low porosity, coarse, very sensitive scalp)

the cj daily fix is a cleansing conditioner, not meant to be used as a leave in, used only as a cowash,it is listed with the cleansers. and if you want to use a regular conditioner only to cowash, i'd try the smoothing conditioner.
if you look at the selection guide (there is a horizontal menu on cj homepage) you will find good suggestions on where to start for your hair type.
my hair is the same way with inexpensive products, generally waaaayyy to drying. the only thing i still use from time to time since i have not found anything else similar is lalsg. even that is drying and i use either cj curl rehab or cj deep fix as a leave in with it. and it still dries my hair if i use it for more than 2 days running. before nature's gate changed their formulas a couple of years ago, i did use it. however, i had to use about 1/4 bottle and leave it all in for a leave in to get decent results. not a savings in my book. they changed the formula anyway, so......
my hair love cj products, i believe her conditioners are in a class by themselves!!

Thank you so much for responding! i never tried cj daily fix - but was really considering it, i figured it would be a good choice to clean once all sulfates are out of my hair, and may be try to use smoothing conditioner as a a co-wash and leave in. how is it as a leave-in? thank you

everyone's hair is different so you have to experiment to see what works for your hair.
i use cj gentle cleansing shampoo (a low poo) about once every 4 days. the other days i mostly use daily fix, occasionally another conditioner if i am not planning on using a leave in.
some people find daily fix too rich to use frequently, i don't. my hair is extremely dry and cannot get enough moisture! LOL! think of daily fix as a 'no poo.'

so, i can only tell you what works for my hair, you will have to play around and see what works for your hair.
