graduating from deva
so as a semi-new (proper) CG, my first purchase was the deva line.. but as my bottles are about 3/4 empty now I'd like to try something new
don't get me wrong, I do like how these products work in my hair - I use them along with coconut oil (this has been my hg of hair products) but they are kind of pricy and don't leave my hair as soft and touchable as i would like
I also see a lot of you guys using different products and I know a common theme is starting with deva and then moving on to better and less expensive things.
i'm just asking for a couple recommendations - I think i've read every article and website on curly hair but when it comes to products i get a bit overwhelmed
I'm mostly looking for a cleanser and conditioner, maybe a product or 2 if its inexpensive and available at the drugstore or beauty supply store
i tend to use gels in my hair (and have a bottle of curly solutions in my queue for when my devacurl runs out) but i'd be interested in trying out a different type of product that will leave my hair soft but not greasy (as many products do)
my hair is very low porosity, fairly high elasticity, 2c (I had a keratin treatment done not too long ago to soften my curls, naturally my hair is more of a 3a) medium density (am i forgetting anything?)
thank you!!

There are couple of Brands you could try from the drugstore or local Retailers
Giovanni, Shea Moisture, yes to carrots, Suave and Tresseme Naturals
you can see my signature- I use products from drugstore/Local Retailers only.
Also Shea moisture has a organic shampoo you might like that for doing your scalp.

You sound like my hair twin I'm also 2c/3a and very low porosity.
For cleansing and conditioning, I LOVE Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo and Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner. I only started using them recently, but the shampoo isn't stripping at all, and the conditioner (which I use as a leave-in) helps a lot with smoothing and definition. They're fairly inexpensive, too, especially compared to Deva.

Yay! Hair triplets
Well, I definitely recommend trying it! I swear, they need to market it as a 2-in-1 because my hair feels like it's been conditioned after using it.

I had to re-examine my spending on hair products and started experimenting. I found the Tresemme Naturals Conditioner, used both as a co-wash and rinse out, with La Bella Lots of Curls gel gave me great hair. Did not even have the flakiness that I sometimes got with Deva. That is the least amount of money I have spent on my hair products ever...CG or not! It was a very pleasant surprise. I'm still looking for that budget friendly amazing deep conditioner, though :-)

If you like a cleansing conditioner better than a low-poo/sulfate free shampoo, you could also try L'Oreal's Everceme cleansing conditioner - it's around $6 or $7 dollars and is available at most grocery stores and drug stores. I also second the Shea Moisture line and the Tresemme Naturals.
briana - if you like the TN as your regular condish, you could try just adding some oils to it to use as a DT. I like to add coconut oil, EVOO and honey to mine and let it sit for about an hour. Makes my hair silky soft and tangle free.

My favorite brands are Curl Junkie, Darcy's Botanicals, As I Am, Curly Kinks and Shea Moisture. Also love sealing with oil and styling with jelly products.

I use Tresmee Naturals conditioner, and mix in some honey and olive oil into the bottle. I love it! I'd stay away from their shampoo though...it's sulfate free, but it's awful!
