Default is this normal?

after washing, co washing, rinsing...pretty much anything my hair is really like...... i dont even know what to call it!

i get some clumps and stuff but in each "curl" there are these hairs that like stick out of the curl...like little loops and such. my hair doesn't all curl smoothly.

also, even when i have product in the ends are horrible. i got a trim last week and its still bad. the curl will be nice and formed kinda...and then the ends look all splayed out. like its good and then at the end it just fans out.

what is this? why is it happening?

Bump. I've been wondering the same thing. My hair also used to get smoothe, and now even after being freshly combed and conditioned, there's still what looks like webs of hair inbetween my curls. It still looks ratty. Idk I've been cg for awhile and it seems like the better my hair curls and starts to look, the worse this problem and the strays of hairs in each curl gets. I take VERY good care. I baby it. I don't understand.

Do you detangle your hair? Do you apply product when it is still wet? Do you have split ends or knots?

it sounds like maybe your hairdresser razored it or otherwise chopped into your curls?

I'm not 100% sure if you mean loops of hair or broken hair or what, but I had this for a while. What fixed it for me was PT, DT, and sealing, but mainly after I detangle in the shower with a wide tooth comb, I comb through it with a fine tooth comb to get all those little loops out. Fixed that "already frizzy before drying" issue! Made the clumps nicer, too. I do have to go through and "loosen" my roots by lifting them and finger combing, and still have to clip them after plopping.

All this is done with condish or LI in, too, btw.

Yes! It looks like cobwebs! Haha it's gross.... My hair sticks to my head pretty easily after washing so I lift my roots and shake a bit and that creates all these little strings of hair. And the cobwebs.

A friend who is a hairdresser said that my last stylist razored me I've been growing my hair out for over a year and it's still bad. I've gone from chin length to just below my shoulders.

Oh that blasted RAZOR!! I've been there. So sorry!

Yes, try the fine tooth comb. Let the water run down it as you do it. I lift the roots by gently running my fingers along the roots, finger combing through under the water. I may use the comb doen the ends again and add more condish if needed.

As for sealing, I have used jojoba oil, sometimes SM's Elixir, but my absolute HG for sealing is mineral oil. Just a few drops over LI and under stylers, only on the length and underneath where I would get the nape rat's nest. I've had no trouble with build-up, etc, even when co-washing, and it's made a HUGE difference in my hair.
