hello!! I have been trying the CG method for a few days and my hair is even worse. My curls are not defined ,they are not even curls any more, especially on the outer layer and it's all frizzy and all over the place.Could it be that I am not using the proper leave in treatment? I am really desparate.
thank you!!!
can you tell us what products you are using and your routine with them.

also, it is good to know you hair's properties -- the texture, the porosity, elasticity -- gives you a better idea of the type of product that would work. here is one link to look at (there a many):

my hair is 3a and I have been colouring it for a couple of years. The whole thing begun when I switched from chemical colouring to natural which sounds totally weird but as soon as I changed the dye I had completely different terrible hair. Now I am back to chemical colouring but I no longer use shampoo. The conditioners I use are silicone free from the label Korres which has only natural indredients.I don't know who to ask because most hair dressers have no idea about curly hair and how to handle it. I have never before experienced hair problems so this is kind of a shock!
I color my hair with chemical dye (L'oreal). I'd suggest a protein treatment. That might help your curls pop. Don't do it immediately after coloring though, since it will make the color fade - it's fine to do after 48 hours.

The CG method doesn't work for everyone, but you do need to give it some more time. It's a lot of experimentation to find out what works best for your curls. Try some protein and keep us posted. Good luck!
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
our curl types, like 3a, is not what determines which products to use. our texture and porosity determine that.
read about hair properties and see if you can see what yours are.

i don't know anything about korres so i can't comment. can you list the ingredients?

I don't know anything about protein treatments!Where can I have them?
I just bought L'oreal studio sikl and gloss hair cream as a leave in treatment I will try it and keep you posted.
The ingredients in the korres are
Aqua, Quaternium-83, Glycerin, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Acrylates Copolymer, Butylparaben, Butylene Glycol, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ethylparaben, Glyceryl Stearate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hydrolysed Silk, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Isobutylparaben, Linalool, Methylparaben, Panthenol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Phytantriol, Polyquaternium-37, Potassium Sorbate, PPG-1 Trideceth-6, Propylparaben, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Sorbitan Oleate.
thanks again!!
if you have fine hair, then protein treatments are good on a regular basis. medium texture like some protein, not a lot. so sometimes what is in other products is enough, or a very occasional protein treatment is good. if your texture is coarse, then stay away from protein.

you buy protein treatments just like you buy deep conditioners. there are many different brands and many can be bought locally. the one i use is curl junkie repair me which i buy on aveyou.com.

you really need to learn about hair properties before you start buying products/doing treatments, it will save you time and effort and money in the long run.

As rbb has said several times, the best thing you can do is determine your hair properties. Here's the link she gave you to help with that Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics Hair properties are the best way to select ingredients/products. If you know your properties, you can look for people with similar properties and see what products they use (all in signatures.) It's the best place to start.

You said in your earlier post that the korres product is natural--as I read the ingredients, there are A LOT of chemicals. Not a natural product at all. My hair would have a lot of trouble with many of those ingredients.

The ingredients in the korres are
Aqua, Quaternium-83, Glycerin, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Acrylates Copolymer, Butylparaben, Butylene Glycol, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ethylparaben, Glyceryl Stearate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hydrolysed Silk, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Isobutylparaben, Linalool, Methylparaben, Panthenol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Phytantriol, Polyquaternium-37, Potassium Sorbate, PPG-1 Trideceth-6, Propylparaben, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Sorbitan Oleate.

I bolded the ones that I'm pretty sure are chemicals. There are a lot of parabens, too (which a lot of people avoid.)
3a (Corkicelli), highlighted, fine, low porosity

my hair: 3c, high porosity, high density and coarse hair (i think i finally figured that all out)
my hair loves conditioner only styling!
my hair goal length is bra strap length when curly.

I also blog about my hair journey, please feel free to read and comment/ask questions http://www.naturallycurly.com/blogs/...air-blogs/2494
this is all very helpful, thank you.
I realize that my hair is not one texture. The outer layer seems destroyed very fine and fragile with no shape in the curls, just frizz. The inner layer on the contrary is much thicker and the curls are well defined and frizz free. I am thinking that it might be because of the bleaching I did before colouring. But that was 7 months ago and I trimm regularly. My roots are now very greasy and the rest is dry. I might give up on the CG method and maybe get a good haircut and start over. I am amazed about the chemicals in Korres because the bottle says paraben and silicone free and the site states that alla the products are chemical free so I will have to find something else.
thanks again!
I might mention that my hair really didn't start looking good for about a month or longer after doing CG. You said it was only a few days. I'd take the advice of the above girlies but don't stress if you're still not getting the results you want. Give it some time.

i agree with greencup, you need to give it some time.

first, shampoo with a regular shampoo with sulfates to remove all the cones/chemicals.

then, deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner. i am not familiar with deep conditioners you can get locally, but if you want to order online i highly recommend curl junkie curl rehab. it does not have protein so until you know for sure what your hair texture is, i'd do a straight deep conditioning. you can order on the curljunkie.com or at aveyou.com with the discount code of FIVE will give you 15% off. both have quick turn around.

3rd, i'd get a haircut as you had mentioned. it sounds like you did some damage with bleaching, so a good haircut is always a good place to start.

then, continue with either low poos or cowashing, and leave in conditioners without cones. and, deep condition frequently til you see improvement.

it's worth it!
