hello,

id appreciate anybody on here suggestions about how to retain curls, should i invest in a curling wand? my hair starts off as in picture one and clouds out during the night like in picture two.

also.. its very thick, a bit too thick, how could i make it stick out a bit less more?

Hi there!

Are you doing the Curly Girl method? It's been great for me since I had unruly hair before I tried it. It also is very healthy for your hair and brings out a lot of definition and enhances curl pattern for most.

It is a little overwhelming at first but a lot of people here use it and there is a great how to get started on this site:

I must admit I don't take great care of my hair, I straightened it for many years, I'm trying to grow the splits out and cutting it quite regularly.
I use head and shoulders shampoo because it's in the house.. And I used a herbal essence deep conditioner.
I wash it, let it dry a bit in a kind of towel hat thing I bought, and then plait it loosely, then when I take it out its like in the pictures.

i don't think they are cg. and the 'towel hat thing,' might be too rough for your hair cuticies, have no idea what material it is.

you can also get lorraine massey's book, "The Curly Girl," edition 2009 maybe at your library or on amazon or at a bookstore. gives you lots of info.

when you know your hair properties and understand the cg method we can give you a lot more help.

you need to invest in good hair products for curly hair. head and shoulders can dry out your curls and cause frizz. try using a t-shirt to dry your hair.

Your hair looks like my daughter's! She got her hair thinned out and it helped a ton with the thickness, lots of girls say not to get this done but if it comes out wrong then the stylist doesn't have a clue on how to thin out hair. If done properly it can be a real life saver. That, along with using pro naturals argan oil after a shower, that's like the holy grail for frizz. Really good stuff!
