Dimethicone in Conditioner?

Hey everyone!

So here's the deal: I bought some conditioner that has dimethicone in it. I read the ingredients on the bottle at the store, but somehow missed "dimethicone" was there until I read it again at home. :P

My question is, will the dimethicone cause buildup? If so, what is the gentlest was to remove it?

I have totally done this before! Dimethicone will buildup if not removed. Any cleanser with coco betaine can do this- coco betaine is found in many low-poos and even in some cleansing conditioners (CJ Daily Fix and DevaCare No-Poo are the two I normally keep on hand).

What number is it on the list? The higher it is on the ingredient list, the sooner you should expect to experience buildup. Might help you time your wash days a little better...

It's near the middle of the list, but I generally go with how my hair feels on a daily basis to determine if it needs to be clarified. Usually, once or twice a week is enough to keep buildup away.

This happened to me, too! I bought the Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Leave In Conditioner, and the price tag was placed over 'dimethicone' so I bought it, thinking it was CG. Of course, when I got home, I took the price tag off and saw that it actually had dimethicone listed as the 11th ingredient, out of 34. So, I was a little bit disappointed but it's not that bad. I use it occasionally.
Curly and PROUD!!!

My hair has a mix of low/med/high porosity, and it's medium textured (some are still fine, though!)
