Repair me!
Hello. Today I used CJ Repair me for the first time. Actually it is my first protein treatment other than egg and mayo once.
When I put it in and I was combing it through my hair it BURNED MY EYES. I was very careful and I know I didn't get any on my forehead or eyes. I left it on while showering for the 5-10 minutes it recommended. After about 5 minutes my scalp started burning!
I was just wondering if this is normal for protein?
I don't have any sensitivities to products ( that I've found yet).

i've never had a reaction to the repair me. i am sure any of these products would burn eyes, but should not burn your scalp.
check out the ingredient list, see what you can determine. maybe email marsha and ask her opinion????

I would not say that is a normal response to anything. However, I can tell you I had the same thing happen when I tried tresseme naturals conditioner the first time. I opted to try it again and I had no problems. i have since used it several times. It was really odd. I would go over the ingredients on the CJ with a fine tooth comb (pun intended) and see if there is anything new or different. Allergies and sensitivities can come out of nowhere - I've discovered the hard way that is true. Or it could just be a fluke like me and tresseme.
(ETA omitted word.)

My eyes and scalp would have that reaction to vinegar, but not normally to protein treatments. Since your eyes reacted first, it could be that you are allergic to the fragrance. Are you aware of any allergies you might have?

So, when all was said and done, how did your hair come out? Any ill effects on your hair after feeling like the product was burning your scalp a little?
I just got my first bottle of CJ Repair Me today and plan on using it for the first time tomorrow, so I'm curious to hear how your hair otherwise reacted to it. (My hair is protein sensitive, and it's been a while since I've used any significant amount of protein on my hair, but I was hoping CJ Repair Me would be a mild enough PT that I could use it maybe once every month or two to keep a good moisture-protein balance going.)

I believe I'm also protein sensitive. I can handle soy protein in small doses. I decided to try this because my curl pattern has dissipated.
After the treatment my curls were very very defined. My hair was very poofy and frizzy though but I think that was from the week of rain and dew points.

Just posting results from using CJ Repair Me -- I really like it so far! That really surprises me (I found out the hard way that my hair can react pretty badly to protein sometimes). Whatever the mix is in Repair Me seems to work for my hair though.
My hair came out just fine (no hardness or straw-like feel), and my scalp didn't have any burning sensation at all even after leaving the Repair Me on my head with a shower cap over my hair for about 10 minutes while I showered. I did use a RO and LI after using Repair Me.
Now of course I'll be careful not to over do it on this or any protein treatment, but it had been sooo long since I'd really had any protein on my hair that decided I'd take a measured approach to using a product with protein in it to keep my hair healthy, and CJ Repair Me seems to be what will do it for me. I plan to probably use it monthly and see how that goes.

Question with using protein
I'm new to CG, about 2-3 months. I was previously having PT treatments at the salon every 3-4 weeks when I was straightening my hair. I just bought Repair Me and used it last night. First the reason I felt I needed a pt was my curls were starting to droop. So after I DT with my hair dryer and rinsed and used CJBCLI. My hair dried in like 20 mins. I had stronger wave pattern but had TONS of frizz, not just on my canopy but the whole shaft. So my question is...do I just need to DTs to rehydrate my hair. Did the PT drive out too much of my hairs moisture? For stylers I was using CCCCL, re coil, KCCC and topped with LSLSG... Any recommendations welcomed.

not sure, but maybe it is overconditioned. my hair is extremely dry, yet i never dt after repair me, it is super-moisturizing! probably the only pt that you don't dt afterwards.
maybe just try to do a cowash, then add your leave in, cj bcli is good, and see what happens.

Thanks Rbb.... That's exactly what I did. I used LI with KCCC and CJ PPGel. Plopping now...we will see...I wonder if I just over did it with the PT...this is SOOO hard to figure it....ugh I don't think I OC'd b/c my 3rd day hair is crazy dry. I'm a nurse and I'm too tired/lazy to do my hair everyday...lol...but my hair dose get weighed down easily. Coconut oil pre wash was too much. Pulled my waves out.

the oil could be the culprit here. some hair does not like/react well to oils.
i'd use a low poo to start over, then just a good leave in, like cj bcli.

Thanks rbb...i think i need to clarify some of this protein out and like you said omit the oil..would low pooing be enough to clarify my hair? Im nervous that after cleansing it will dry my hair out even more...any ideas??

try low pooing, it won't dry out your hair. you can even low poo a couple of days in a row, should be fine. then leave a good leave in in, i like curl junkie conditioners. you mentioed cj bcli, that should be good.
if you are not washing/cowashing every day, then it might take a bit to get it back in balance.

Thanks again i am going to try to low poo and go from there. I wonder if the oil in CCCCL also caused a build up?? I may have to find another styler with less oil.

i really doubt any oils in ccccl caused build up. especially as it is a light product. usually when oils are formulated into something like a conditioner not enough to cause build up. but, only your hair knows for sure! :-)
