Cool weather means...
Do you change your products - and if so, how - in cooler weather?

I just started figuring out my warm weather routine (CG-ish for almost a month now)... But maybe this is a good excuse to try new products
I will be watching this thread, though - looks like a good way to continue educating myself. Thanks for starting it!

I lay off the glycerin or use products with it lower in the ingredients. I also seal with heavier oils (castor/olive mix) or a butter. I style my wng at night or do more braidouts.

I go without product in colder weather. The wind blows my hair to bits anyway.

I usually keep my hair in twists/twist outs all winter so I use the same conditioner I do in the summer. But when I wear my hair out I seal with jojoba oil.

I lay off the glycerin, use more leave-in and use softer hold gels.

No change. The air is not much drier in winter than it is in the summer (FL).

I'm pretty protein free in winter because my hair needs more moisture. I also condition more often.

Avoid glycerin in my LI and styling products (this is true most of the year with the exception of summer), start sealing with oil, and DT more frequently.

I just wanted to make a comment on glycerin since it is an issue for so many of us. I always thought glycerin was an emollient; it is in so many hand and face, as well as hair products. Heck, I even use it in the final rinse when I hand wash my cashmere sweaters. But, It seems that every product I have used with glycerin gives me the frizzies. I never realized this was the problem! Again, thanks to NC for the wealth of information. I live in Wisconsin, and unless we are very lucky, like we were last year, winters are COLD and dry. This is my first year being CG, though, I will have to see what develops with my hair routine...dont really want to change it in major ways, having just figured it out...

I started CG last November, and my products really haven't changed much from one season to the next. But I have really agreeable hair (I can even use glycerin in pretty much any dew point). I have been trying to at least partially diffuse more with the dropping temps (rather than venture out with wet hair), so I might need some extra conditioning, but my hair likes lots of moisture in general anyway (it also likes lots of protein).

Corrina, I diffuse with my roller jaw clips in my hair, with a hot sock - no problem!

Cooler weather means LOTS less frizzies for me! It's always so humid here with high dew points and now it's lower dew points which makes my hair happy. It also means less styling products, just more conditioner.

It typically means more moisture, and sometimes monitor my glycerin usage! (in those super cold low dews I sometimes have to cut back.)
This is only my 2nd winter going CG, and the first I was pretty clueless! Lol! So we'll see how I do this time around. I feel like my hair is in better shape now, and I know how to read it better.
