Default Another use for Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie?

Tried as a leave in, just didn't work...So now I have a full tub, (i barely used a dime, didn't need anymore than that.), of this product and have no idea what to do with it. Anybody have suggestions?

I totally know what you mean, though I just had a problem with the smell. I tried to use it as a DT base, and it made my hair pretty soft, just way too smelly (ended up having to shampoo it out because of the headache).

What I did was this:

Mix the stuff with some olive oil and then put it on my hair under a bag for about an hour. I'm tempted to try it with my new thermal heating cap, but the smell...!

A lot of people like this as a DC. If you still don't care for it, there's always the swap board - it's a very popular product around here!

Hmm, I'm baggying now, maybe tonight I'll try that. And instead, mix it with some honey? Maybe a little jojoba oil? I just don't wanna waste it. but i don't really understand swap. I tried paypal on my phone and it doesn't work and idk if people would trust me without paypal ya know? But I'll try this tonight and see, hmm.
My mom used to always smell loke coconut, so to me the smell just kind of sticks because I'm reminded of her lol. It is pretty strong i must admit!

Tell me how it goes! Then I'll manage to find something that can cover up that smell.... somehow.

Tried any essential oils? Maybe one that has a smell you prefer, mixed with the smoothie. Maybe it'll overpower it. Hmm. Idk if anything can overpower that lol. I'm about to apply it now, and wash it out tomorrow morning. I'll update on how it goes.

I used it as a sealer because it is so heavy. I wish I had thought to use it as a dc so it would have gone quicker.

I'm dcing with it now. Hopefully it works so i can use it up. It didn't really feel good putting it on my hair. My hair was dry though, and the shea moisture has weird effects anyways. Idk, I'm not sure yet.

Sooo, it worked. I took off my bags and cap, and my hair was very soft. Felt kind of producty but it was very soft. It remained soft through rinsing it. And was SO easy to detangle. I guess this would be considered a protein treatment? Since there's coconut oil, neem oil, silk protein...idk what else. Or should i add some of my ion protein treatment from sallys to give it a good amount of protein for an effective pt? I'm not protein sensitive but I'll be doing this once a week so i don't wanna over do it. I'm also doing conditioner only styling with tresemme naturals moisturizing conditioner which I'm pretty sure is protein free, so I'll need that treatment to have a good balance now that i won't be using protein products daily.

I use it as a DC/PT combo when I want a shot of protein. It works well for me in that aspect.

Glad it worked so well for you! This smoothie was one of the first "natural" products I tried when I went CG. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me as a styler either, although I've since learned a lot more about my hair and proper techniques. I'm tempted to use my BOGO raincheck to give this another shot, since it's been so highly recommended as an effective DC.

Yes try it as a dc! It's great! And the shot of protein, never hurts either. I feel it's a really lovely balance.
