Default Totally has thrown me off- hair analysis

So just when I think I am coming into establishing a routine and figuring out my hair properties. I even bought live free book on kindle, my hair has been looking good almost two months into CG, then I went to Ulta and for fun I asked if their was a stylist there who knew hair properties. They all recommended this guy and said he is a genius. He looks at my hair and says you have fine hair, very porous and medium density which is everything opposite of what I thought I was. Ahhhhh. This is so frustrating that I can't figure it out. I'm thinking of sending for the hair analysis but I was wondering if anyone has done it and what does it entail? I don't want to spend the twenty bucks if it is not woth it. Also has it helped you? Thanks in advance.

This is what my hair is looking like now and I was pretty satisfied, should I just stick to what I'm doing?

He just looked at it and determine porosity? I don't think so. Density sure, thickness iffy.

Personally, I say if you have found what works then just stick with it. Your hair is beautiful!!

My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

Thank you. Yeah he didn't even touch my hair. He looked said you have some color in it it's porous, it's fine and medium to stay away from protein when I was starting to believe my hair liked protein

I agree with MI001 - it's doubtful he could determine that accurately without touching you hair. The live curly live free analysis is cool - if you're not sure or struggling to figure out what your hair needs, then it's well worth it. But it sounds like you've already established a good routine that's working for you, so I say just stick with what you're already doing. Your hair is gorgeous

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

The fact that he said fine hair and stay away from protein says that he doesn't know about which he speaks.

A lot of curlies think they have coarse hair, when it's really dry. I think it's a little over 60% of us who have fine hair. Forget what the % is for medium and coarse--but coarse is fairly low incidence.

Thanks. I thought so. He seemed too over confident.
