Real silk sleep cap?
I have a question: Has anyone found a good sleep cap made of natural silk? I tried satin pillowcases at first and didn't get good results . . . when I splurged on a real silk one, it made all the difference in the world. I travel for work, though, and would love to have a silk sleep cap to take with me. If you know of any manufacturers, or know a simple way to make one yourself, I'd be grateful to know!

Thanks for posting. Using a silk pillowcase made a big difference for me, too, so I think I'm going to get one of these silk bonnets, too.

Ohhh. I want a silk bonnet. Or maybe a pillowcase. Or maybe both.

I meant be prepared to adjust her bonnets. I pretty much had to cut the elastic because it was extremely tight for me. This is just normal life for big headed folx.

Thanks. My head isn't big but my hair is. Maybe pillowcase is better. Plus elastic tends to irrate my hairline.

I found the elastic to be very gentile. I have big hair too and the elastic is wrapped in silk fabric, so no irritation. The elastic has also never leaves a mark on my forehead. I really want a couple pillowcases too, but just cant get myself to bite that bullet yet!

I second the 'get a silk pillowcase idea' - I've been sleeping with a silk scarf thrown over the pillow and thought it worked well but I've just had 2 charmeuse silk pillowcases as a generous birthday present and they are much, much better.
They are really comfortable and have cotton backs so they don't slide around and my second day hair is now nearly as good as the first. My hair also feels different and much less rough when I wash it.

I had considered the scarf idea. I also was concerned about a silk pillow case sliding. Do you know where the cotton lined ones are from? That sounds perfect! (And what a wonderful and thoughtful gift!!! Yay for whomever bought them for you - nice!!!!) =)

My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)
Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

I bought my bonnet at Walmart, I'm not sure what it is made out of but it works great. I get really nice second and third day hair with it.
