Default Do you guys feel bad...?

Because I am trying to find products my hair likes, I became a product junkie trying everything. Now of course I buy things that I find my hair does not like. I am tempted to return them (I kept the receipt).

Do you guys return products your hair doesn't like? I don't know why I feel bad about this. I guess it is because its now a used hair product and I don't think they can just put it back on the shelf and resell it...

I've actually only once returned a used hair product, because it flaked and left me in a mini snowstorm. I didn't feel bad, because I felt the product hadn't lived up to its promised performance. I know that returned product goes back to the manufacturer (or at least the store is credited for its return by the manufacturer), and it is important for the manufacturer to know when their products aren't performing properly.

That said, if I knew someone for whom a product might work better than it did for me (often my sister), I will pass it along rather than return it. The swap board can be helpful to find a product you would like to try in exchange for one that doesn't work for you that someone else might like.

Some here also opt to donate products they can't use to shelters (homeless or women's) though some shelters won't take used products.

It is also sometimes possible to repurpose a product that doesn't work on your hair. Conditioners can sometimes be used as shave creams or hand lotions for example.

So there are a few different options when you dislike a product's performance on your hair.

Experimenting with too many products to name here. All this great info keeps my head spinning.

+1 to what Raindeer said, especially the swap board - that's a great way to try out products and get rid of stuff that doesn't work without it going to waste.

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

The only product I have ever returned was Hair rules kinky Cream because the smell gave me a headache. Didn't feel bad at all. I did return unopened stuff to Sallys after I got home and realized Id overlooked cones. Other than that i give away, repurpose or toss.
