I'm having a dilemma. A friend of mine with amazing, big 3b/3c hair (Like sharpie curls or pencil curls.) She wants to try the curly girl system but there's one big issue: Her mother is basically highly allergic to anything with a scent. Me, being the one always looking for hair products with scent, am totally stumped.

My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

I am looking for the same thing I think... I have been using some Devacurl products and my scalp gets all red, warm and itches. Not in a good way. I think I might have issues with the perfume in it.

I am using a conditioner called Gluten-Free Savonnerie, CG friendly and has no smell at all pretty much. Very good. I have used it for years (but lately decided to try the Devacurl again). It is kinda spendy though.

I am now trying to find a CG friendly gel without scent.

Jessicurl products are available unscented, also whole foods has a conditioner (365) that is available unscented and is great for co-washing. Other things like refined coconut oil, glycerin, and honey are popular to add to deep treatments (or use alone, as in the case of coconut oil) and have little to no fragrance.

IngredientsToDieFor.com has an unscented conditioner, Organicals Deep Conditioning Creme, that's CG. You can use if for co-washing, as a RO, or even a LI. You can check it out here: Organicals Deep Conditioning Creme

I like how the product works on my hair, but I also like that it's a conditioner that I can add my own fragrance oils to in small batches. I've used it both 'as is' (i.e. unscented) and with fragrance oils added with good results.
