Curly on a Budget 2012
Forgive me if this is posted somewhere, I haven't been able to find it. If you know where the thread is, please link it for me :)
Anywho, I am trying to be CG but also silicone-, sulfate-, protein-free. I can't afford to keep buying all these products online especially for the size of them and the length and thickness of my hair. I'd love to find some cheaper drugstore/Sallys alternatives.
I currently have on my list to try...
Here are some of my favorites:
Kinky Curly Knot Today (don't know if this counts as budget)
Whole Foods 365 conditioner for co-washing
Shea Moisture shampoos
Also very popular:
suave coconut conditioner for cowashing
tresemme naturals conditioner
la looks gel
I'm a newbie too, but of the items on your to-try list, I have used the L'Oreal EverCreme Intense Nourishing Conditioner and so far am really liking it as a rinse-out conditioner. It is very moisturizing and smells great. Available at drugstores, often with frequent sales, and well worth trying.
If you ever need to do a low-poo, CVS Baby Wash is great. The main surfactant is Decyl Glucoside which isn't super common to see on it's own, usually it's used as a complementary ingredient, but it's very mild and recommended for sensitive skin. At the same time, it is one of the few non-ionic non-sulfate options that actually gives you a great lather and can remove product build up! A couple things to note, this product has some acidity, and has a high amount of humectant. Although that pretty much just rinses off so I'm not sure it does much when used in shampoo.
Coconut oil is pretty cheap and is a great deep treatment. Also, the gelatin protein treatment is super cheap and effective. Depending on your hair type of course.
This is probably the thread you're thinking of, although since it's 5 years old now, many of the products have been discontinued: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlta...es-budget.html
